  1. New music we should all hear

Wow, your rather long list absolutely puts me to shame! But thanks for the link to NPR! I rely on it so heavily for guiding my exploration of music across the board.
  2. Which song verse do you feel like?

"I'll drink heineken, eat cornflakes Then i'll call my mom and dad Tell them that i'm doing fine Or i'll write a tipsy letter To a real good friend of mine"
  3. Wee Rants

I just had to tell someone that I don't want to hang out with or see them anymore because we have nothing in common. He was blindsided. Now I feel ill, and like a total bitch. Ugh, I hate it!
  4. Regina national holiday!

Fun fact: Pastafarianism was created in response to my home state's refusal to teach Darwin's Theory of evolution by means of natural selection in public schools without giving equal attention to intelligent design. Too bad this isn't a real country, because Kansas definitely is a real place, and could use a direct foil.
  5. What are you watching right now?

This: Hey, girl! A great way to cheer myself up after a distressingly bad day of classes.
  6. Boardwalk Empire Song - My Man!

I love it! She sounds a little bit like Edith Piaf, with the fast vibrato at the end of the lines. The old style accompaniment helps, as well, with that effect.
  7. Splendor in the Grass (Australia!)

quote: punters.....people in the audience (in this case) ropeable.....angry. Thanks! It makes much more sense now.
  8. Splendor in the Grass (Australia!)

quote: but, what about this: Yeesh, people got REALLY upset! I suppose I would too in the same situation, however. Also, what do "ropeable" and "punter" mean?
  9. Regina is everywhere

I'm not sure where to put this, so here seems like an appropriate place as any. I came across Setlist Wiki, and they compile statistics for artists as to how many plays each of their songs gets. Here's Regina's, as far as her page has been updated: http://www.setlist.fm/stats/re...pektor-33d6a499.html I found it kinda interesting, though nothing mind-bending.
  10. reg in the news

This article mentions that Regina is recording something with the Nighthawks and Vince Giordano for the show "Boardwalk Empire." Has anyone else heard anything about this. I don't watch the show, but I could make an exception. "Session Buzz: Who's Recording in & Around NYC"
  11. post your favorite photos of regina

Man, I just saw this on the add for the Housing Works event, and I was hoping some enterprising Stixer would post it. Thanks for posting!!
  12. Regina's Updates

I like how she put a positive spin on some comments that were negative. I happen to disagree with some of what she said, but people were being flat out assholes to each other! Yay for open discussion!
  13. post your favorite photos of regina

Man, I just watched all of the videos of the performance on Youtube. SO GOOD! Once again I regret never attempting to get into a school in NYC.
  14. post your favorite photos of regina

Is she reacting to something in that^^ shot?
  15. Regina is everywhere

I don't know if anyone saw this, but Regina and Only Son did a short performance for Citizen Radio. You can find it on iTunes under "podcasts." They appear with a journalist whose name I can't remember and Sarah Silverman. Very funny!

  17. reg in the news

Thomas Dolby Article "After a nearly 20-year absence from the record bins (or digital playlists), Thomas Dolby is readying his first studio album since 1992's "Astronauts & Heretics." "A Map of the Floating City" arrives this spring with guest appearances from Mark Knopfler and Regina Spektor." ^^I'd forgotten about this! I guess it's coming out fairly soon.
  18. Awards Season! (Oscars and Golden Globes)

I honestly don't think Anne Hathaway and James Franco did a good job. I love them both, and know for a fact they are excellent actors, but were lackluster hosts. Part of that, I think, was some really lousy scripting for the show as a whole (seriously, Oprah came out talking about Hollywood films as a means of escapism, then proceeded to present the award for best documentary, the LEAST escapist genre of film). They seemed to fumble around all night, hanging on to the forward momentum of the show by their fingernails. I did really like the opening and the auto-tuning, and Anne's song to make Hugh Jackman feel guilty. And Florence, of course. She can make any awards show better by her performances. Overall, I really wanted it to be good, and I don't think it quite made it.

It's the thought that counts. Happy Birthday Regina!
  20. school = :(

I am getting so stressed out about my major. I'm Art History/Archaeology, and all I can think about is how it seems impossible that I will be able to make a future with it. And graduate school is looming, and I feel like I haven't done enough to prepare for that (I'm only a sophomore, for God's sake!) I just look around and see people less than 5 years older than me who already seem to have their lives figured out, and I just want to be there already! To skip all the uncertainty and painful growing-up stuff. Meh.
  21. Regina is everywhere

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I was at my university's rec center for a run. They have a closed channel that plays only music videos. I wasn't really watching, but I noticed some old video was on. I kept looking up, and the same video was still playing for what seemed like 15 minutes. At the end, the little thing came up in the corner as Guns'n'Roses "November Rain." It is a really long song. And a really long solo (but it's a good refrain.)
  22. Regina GIFs

Oh my God, I recognize exactly where this is! I'm convinced it is the place where tour buses pick up people from Heathrow (which would make sense, I guess.) I had forgotten about it until I saw this.
  23. post your favorite photos of regina

I love the picture with Chris Kuffner with hair!
  24. Favorite songs at the moment?

Well, this isn't a Regina song, but I have been obsessed with Florence + the Machine for a month or so now, and can't stop listening to "Dog Days are Over." The harp is what makes it so perfect.
  25. Interviews & Appearances 2010

The end of the interview was really good, but do you think they will ever get to the point where they don't ask the same four questions to start?
