I was walking home after class today and happened to pass the bulletin board that is always covered in adverts from various shows and musicians around the city. And who do I see in the middle, but: Jenny Owen Youngs! One week until her concert, and I'm very excited!
-
Two things: HERE is an article explaining the exhibition where the pictures on Flickr were taken, and HERE is another article about the DVD. No new info, but I love how they call her a "Long an adored cult figure."
-
^^This picture really threw me off! It was the wig, more than the stache, for some reason. The most recognizable par of her in this picture is her hands! I love it though.

quote: the best of which (at least to this music loving heterosexual old guy) being http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOFKC3aQQdwthis one, from the great Allison Weiss: I completely agree with you. I've looked at her formspring off and on for several months, and so many people have blatantly asked her, and she has deferred all questions of sexuality until this extremely public and personal message. That takes guts.

Hey, remember that time when we beat the #1 team and all 30,000 of us rushed the field and carried the goalposts downtown?

I was at the grocery store when...

I ordered mine. I'm so excited!

I don't understand how she keeps doing these amazing videos (Adria Petty, that is. Well, Ingrid too.) for all these artists I like. Not that I'm complaining, by any means. It's awesome.

I think that there's something to be said about the fact that the heart seems to usually face the audience. On a different note, here are some photos I took for my photo class.I heart them.

^^Whoever noticed that is a gem of a person. That makes me happy overall.

The Show - Lenka (I was looking at her Myspace, and noticed that her manager was Ron Shapiro. That was familiar, so I Googled him and was reminded that he's also Regina's manager. fun connections!)
-
I think she is getting addicted to facebook! (fingers crossed...)

Today marks the beginning of my school's chapter of the Humans vs. Zombies game. It's glorified tag but with nerf guns. It makes midterms that much more stressful, but it is SO MUCH FUN!
-
Ok, sorry if these links get annoying, but this is an especially good review: Boom I especially like when she says, "Good news: Regina Spektor sounds as great playing live as she does in her albums. Bad news for the rest of us, mere mortals: It’s hard to return to our ordinary lives after witnessing such a stroke of genius." So true, so true.

I found a video of the banter you described, From the Pampas, and I love how she adds the afterthough "And thanks for coming to my show!" Positivity wins the day.
-
I've never seen this as a press photo before.
-
quote: I'm really excited about this... "Silly Eye Color Generalizations" and "Love, You're a Whore" getting their first official versions is pretty exciting This was exactly what I thought! And I think there will be footage from sound check and backstage. Maybe some of the fun footage like when she did the clip-clop noises for the statue.

There were some really elegant metaphors in that (especially the surfer metaphor). My cheeks hurt from smiling the whole time.
-
Yet ANOTHER hit! This one woul be pretty exciting: Wood and Spektor

quote: Her face, her mind, her music, she just exudes magic. I can be so frustrated with life things but when I look at her pictures or watch a video it just calms me. I feel at home with her. I know Regina is just an imperfect human being like all of us, but why does she seem like more? Smiler Will someone please tell me I'm not the only one. I feel a little nutty about saying all that Maybe the answer to this is that even though she is just another flawed human being, she can create something so universal and powerful as to seem perfect.

Alex Heffes ft. Regina "Balloon Girl"
Jamie R. replied to Reginaoverdose's topic in Upon the new year coming
That was really cool! -
I just watched this again, and it cracks me up how right at the end when all the guests are sitting on the couches during the credits, Regina looks like she is sitting as far away as possible from Flavor Flav. It made me laugh out loud despite my laryngitis.

I'm actually from NE Kansas (I live literally three houses from the state line w/ Missouri), but I go to school in central Missori. Nice to know there is someone close by. ish. -

I fall into that last, sad category. Why is Missouri so damn far away from EVERYTHING??
