I'm so happy I could donate $37.00 (a random number, sure) She's already made it! Plus: http://jennyowenyoungs.tumblr....-reasons-to-help-out
  3. Good News Thread!

I looked at my university email for the first time in several weeks, and discovered that I won a mysterious scholarship! It has officially been deducted from my tuition, so they can't take it back. Hah!
  4. If anyone is interested!

    I wish I had a spare 800 bucks...
  5. spektography response video :)

I've been thinking about what to do for this, and I was thinking that I could talk about a pair of shoes I drew (on) that relate my life to Regina's music. Perhaps it's lame, but I guess it is what I want to share. Is this in the right vein, I guess is what I'm asking.
  6. Good News Thread!

Every summer for a week in June, my church puts on a little drama/music camp for elementary schoolers. Today, we were having snack and I was awkwardly sitting in front of them while they ate, and no one was really talking. Then one girl raised her hand and was like, "What's your favorite band?" I said, "Does it have to be a band?" She said no, so I name-dropped Regina. I'm so proud of myself for exposing the name to 40+ kids ages 6-12.

The last photo is a bit more polished than the earlier ones. Speaking of which, where/when are they from?

"I should have held an after party for all the thoughts I didn't say" Ah, but that begs the question, is it "should have" or "should've". That just made me listen to that song like 6 times. I hear Should HAVE. There appears to be an "ah" sound in there that shouldn't appear if she said should've. But then again, it could be the just the colloquial "shoulda"? (Just teasing. I agree with you.)
  9. A Place to Ask Any Regina Related Question

I just need a quick fact check: 11:11 was recorded in December of 2000, right?
  10. Your Regina Collection!

Okay, this is my sad list: Far CD (not bonus track verision) Russian Doll Button Button with the Hat Pin Regina T-Shirt (I need to work on this dismal state)

Here's one from Bonnaroo 2007. The source says she was shoe shopping at the Timberland booth.
  12. ingrid michaelson is the shit....

All I can say is that I am SOOO JEALOUS! The only time she is coming to Kansas City this summer is with Lilith Fair, so the tickets are uber expensive and I have to work that day anyway. Those are some amazing pictures, though!
  13. Bonnaroo 2010

I really love her hair (Regina's) in all the videos and photos I've seen. I wonder how much of the curl and volume has to do with humidity rather than hair spray.
  14. A Place to Ask Any Regina Related Question

THis may reflect my own dorkiness, but is it possible that Regina is/was a Buffy fan? I'm watching all the seasons this summer, and I keep hearing little snippets on the show that relate to songs. Xander mentions "B.Y.O. Shovel," and there's of course the musical episode called "One More Time With Feeling." Plus, Jenny Owen Youngs is obsessed. It seems like it might follow that Regina also likes it. (I just read back over this and it made me blush, haha.)

As a fan who came late to the party, I actually prefer the new version. It's almost dirge-like with the slower tempo. If it is correct to take the medical perspective on the song, it's much more inspiring with the up-beat, hopeful arrangement that came out on "far."
  16. Six Thoughts...

    1. Ordered an ukulele today. Woohoo! 2. Also, gave my number to a creepy guy (11 years my senior) because I didn't know how to say no politely. Dear Jesus, let him forget it! 3. Bonnaroo on Youtube!! 4. I'm addicted to "Buffy" thanks to Jenny Owen Youngs 5. Meeting up with my 3 besties on Sunday! 6. Another work week next week.
  17. school = :(

I agree--1984 is one of my fav books also, and Lord of the Flies was great summer reading. And Vonnegut is tops. But seriously, give a girl ONE book!
  18. school = :(

This is a rant less about school work and more about the sexist reading list at my high school. Yes, I'm in college now, but I had to go through the same curriculum that is still adhered to in that school. I recently heard a friend of mine complaining about summer reading: Pride and Prejudice. "But it's a girlie book," he whined. "I don't see why this would be relevant to any of the boys in the class." This really set me off. First of all, if one were to really examine all the books that are commonly read in schools in America, I would say 85% of them have male protagonists. All the girls I went to school with, myself included, read books like: A Separate Peace, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Catcher in the Rye, Dante's Inferno, All Quiet on the Western Front, Frankenstein, The Iliad, The Odyssey, 1984, Brave New World, Moby Dick, Slaughterhouse-5, Lord of the Flies, Heart of Darkness, Grapes of Wrath, Catch-22, and Of Mice and Men Many of these books don't even have any female characters of consequence. I have counted four (4) books that have female protagonists, and two of those books could be kicked off with a simple essay: Cold Mountain, Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Scarlet Letter. So don't complain to me about books you, as a boy, can't relate to. Lord of the Flies, especially. I do understand there aren't too many women authors before the 19th century, but can't we compensate just a little for the sake of fairness. After all, how many of the great authors of the 20th century have been women? And it's not to say that I don't love most of the books we read--I really dislike only two. I would just appreciate it if the boys who complain would STFU. I feel better now.
  19. Let's go to the Movies...

I love that movie! I love Miranda Richardson and Emily Blunt. I had to laugh though because if you squint your eyes a little, you can make it look like Zooey Deschanel or Katy Perry is onscreen. I recently watched "A Serious Man," which was really good. Very humorous in a dark way.
  20. What are you listening to right now?

Binoculars--Julia Nunes Best line: Please don't be creeped out by me, you're my miniature TV
  21. Bonnaroo 2010

They are going to stream it on NPR. I don't know anything about schedules, or if it will be a live stream. I think it may be on the internet or with the NPR music page. This is the link with the information I found, courtesy of our friends at Consequence of Sounds: http://consequenceofsound.net/...tional-public-radio/ Edit: Also, this is helpful: http://beatcrave.com/2010-06-0...-plans-live-webcast/
  22. Northwestern University's Dillo Day- May 29, 2010

I really want to print all those out and make a flip book...It would be so cool!
  23. The Next New Single?

I hope you're right! It's become my favorite song from the album (officially, this time, I think). The promo is a good sign. Maybe along with the concert video with Adria Petty, there will be another music video?
  24. post your favorite photos of regina

Wow, how did you find the one with Judy Bloom? That is so cool! I wonder who asked whom to take a photograph?
  25. JUST SPOTTED THIS ON EBAY .....

Hmmm...In that case I may need to do some online shopping. I"ve been on vacation with my mother this week, and she was incredibly annoyed that I don't like to shop/buy things like she does. SHe doesn't realize the thrill of ebay.
