  2. The general public...

quote: Originally posted by Pilgrim Poet: I guess I qualify as a member of the general public. I went out to lunch with a co-worker yesterday to Caliente Cab Co., and as we were finishing up a song came on. The song and the voice were so wonderful that I needed to ask the people who work there who this was! I waited patiently as the manager went into the back to check whatever he needed to check in order to tell me. He came back and told me that it was Regina Spektor, "Fidelity." I thanked him and the universe (and, of course, Regina Spektor). I left the restaurant already knowing I was her fan. Today I have been to her web site and am listening to lots of her songs, and I know I need to have her music with me a lot, and I hope I get to see her perform very soon as well. I am feeling really blessed and fortunate; let's hear it for celebrating Bridget's 31st birthday and serendipity! Bridget- Where have you been? We've been waiting for you. Well at least you got our present. Happy birthday and welcome!!
  3. Carson Daly again

    I'm on it!

  5. Looking for the two first albums

Here's where you can get "Songs" http://cdbaby.com/cd/spektor2 But I don't know their international shipping policy. As far as "11:11" goes, it's out of print. The only place you can purchase it is iTunes. http://cdbaby.com/cd/spektor Hope this helps.

All you need is the Community Codec. That's it. You should uninstall, reboot, then just install the Community Codec. Not to be confused with the "Pro" Codec.
  7. Vids and Interview Download

Works perfectly for me. None of my friends have had any issues. No one else here has complained. As far as loading crap you have the option, via check boxes, of which components you want to install. I did install all except the two trial pieces. The DivX codec, which only loads a process while in use, takes 9,300K of memory and 4,000K of VM. When you shut down your player the process terminates so by no means is it a resource hog. How much memory does your machine have? What operating system and version are you using? Which player are you using? How fast does the gerbil run inside the wheel? Maybe you need to add a second gerbil to the cage! (I am just kidding you)

Johnny this one exists. I've seen the video on the Artist's Den, but the link ( http://www.theartistsden.com/v2/videos/regina/ ) now appears dead. You're all very welcome. Enjoy!
  10. Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori is a line from the Roman lyrical poet Horace's Odes (iii 2.13). The line can be rendered in English as: "It is sweet and honourable to die for one's country," or: "It is sweet and proper to die for the fatherland." In classical Latin it was pronounced, "dulcet decorumst pro patria mori," due to poetic elision and prodelision. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dulce_et_decorum_est_pro_patria_mori
  11. Vids and Interview Download

I am warning you. These are of good quality, and therefore, large files. If you don't have broadband you probably shouldn't bother. In addition, if you don't already have it, you will need the DivX codec to play them which is free and available here. It's the Carson Daly, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel latest appearances. As well as the Sunday Morning Interview. Links are updated and located here. Enjoy!
  12. Groan

Well put. Very succinct. Welcome to the wonderful world of regina spektor!
  13. sunday morning news (in case no ones seen this yet)

My favorite part (in reference to her classical music upbringing) is: "When you're playing such brilliant music,.......everyday,......then, ......the last thing you ever want to do is try to write something of your own that's crude and not as good."
  14. Love Woes?

You need to decide what is more important to you, the friendship or the love. Based on her past behavior towards you it's my opinion (I think that's what your asking for?) that you should stick with the friendship. But then the question becomes, can you separate the two feelings and squelch your love towards her? If not, it may be time for a complete clean break. As you already know it's no fun loving someone who doesn't love you back. Good luck.
  15. Whu?! HOTEL SONG demo?!

Welcome back Johnny. If you follow the OP's second link listed as "here" (It takes you to kate's Site) you will find it listed as "come to my world".
  16. I finally bought Live at Bull Moose

No need to wait. Same price here. But you'd have to spring $2.80 for shipping.
  17. CD printing?

This will do it. With LightScribe; you just burn your data; flip the disc; then burn your label. But you will need to get a LightScribe drive, compatible software, and special "LightScribe" media. This is the only way I know of to accomplish what you want.
  18. Soviet Kitsch

Soviet Kitsch is a different album. Obviously it is much less produced then BTH. I'd be willing to bet though, given some time and a few more good listens, that your opinion might change. Give it a chance. You won't regret it.
  19. my regards to "Your Honor"

  20. Regina on Sirius Satellite Radio

Meat references??? regina makes reference to just about everything. She has stated many times that her songs are not auto-biographical. She may very well be a vegetarian. Or she might be a steak and potatoes gal. Or even a pizzatarian. Possibly a chocoholic. But don't think because her song's make reference to something that it means regina is or isn't anything!
  22. Tour dates

Don't worry about that. I've gone to many of her shows solo. I always end up talking/hanging with others. Heck, just put a post up here and you can hook up with some fellow reginaites. Even if you don't hook up with anyone, seeing and hearing her will more than make up for the lack of company. Trust me on this one.

  25. Grantham, PA show?

Regina Spektor brings her "stylistic melting pot" sound to Messiah College GRANTHAM, Pa. (Dec. 22, 2006) — In a final stop before the start of an international tour, Regina Spektor will perform at Messiah College on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium, located in the Eisenhower Campus Center. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the college ticket office at (717) 691-6036 or going to www.messiah.musictoday.com. According to "Time" magazine, Spektor's music is a "stylistic melting pot," reflective of her family's trek to America from Russia when she was nine years old. Spektor drew the attention of The Strokes and toured with them recently. Her latest album, "Begin to Hope," is quickly earning acclaim, including her recent recognition as VH1's "Artist on the Rise." A 2005 story in the Associated Press described Spektor's music as "a Molotov cocktail of lyrical classical piano compositions, indie rock crescendos, fuzzy guitars and playful piano snippets that sound like traditional Russian folk songs." For more about Spektor, visit www.reginaspektor.com. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls nearly 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
