  1. I AM SO STOKED! I just preordered my copy! Trying to figure out how to download the Bleeding Heart Single, but the Warner online store isn't showing it to me yet. WHO ELSE IS EXCITED??? ETA: Gotta listen to the single on Spotify or Apple Music and the like. Whoops. Pressing play now!
  2. Small Bill$ !!!!

Does this song remind anyone else of Melanie Martinez? The 'lalalala' part, especially.
  3. The Chicago show!

Also, someone in the Regina Spektor facebook group commented with this review of the show from the Regina Spektor Reddit. Thought I'd share the link here too: https://www.reddit.com/r/reginaspektor/comments/4vatz7/just_got_back_from_the_chicago_show_pure_bliss/d5xwx78

  5. Remember Us To Life (Album Coming Sep 30, 2016)

I agree! The bridge is unexpected and awesome!
  6. Remember Us To Life (Album Coming Sep 30, 2016)

Yeah, all new, unreleased songs on an album of Regi's hasn't happened yet. It's so weird and exciting all at once! I was really surprised that Stay and Party Upstairs aren't going to be on the album. Maybe she'll release them as singles in the next couple of years, or maybe we'll get awesome live recordings of them on a live album like "Live In London" or something. September, hurry up!

  8. Would you pay to get Regina to do a show for us?

I know this is a pretty old thread, but if something like this were actually able to take place, my husband and I would be there! I'd reason that we'd be willing to pay upward of $200 apiece for tickets.
  9. Introduce Yourself! Brümstix Questionnaire

I've been a member for a while (a fan for longer), but I haven't posted much, so I think I'll give a formal intro here now. Stats Name or nickname: Iris Age: 23 currently. Gender: Female Orientation: Straight Relationship status: Married Location: Texas Languages: English speaking mainly, though I can google anything. Life Occupation: I have a boring office job. Hobbies: Piano, poetry, trying to write songs lately. Interests: My husband, my cat, music, travel, big cities, good books, love. Political Views: I dislike politics because I value honesty and love, which seems to be lacking there, though I do participate like a good citizen. I can't seem to agree with a certain "side" though. Religious Views: I'm a Christian, but not the "in your face" kind. Just the kind that wants more love in the world at large. Favorite Things Foods: Anything roasted. Color: Green, isn't that obvious? Books: Anything historical; no sci-fi. TV: I dig those law/medical/crime drama type shows, or really silly stuff that you can't help but laugh at. Movies: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, hands down Music: Regina, of course. Also, Laura Marling, Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, The Civil Wars, Florence + The Machine, Michael Buble, Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Jack Johnson Misc Origin or meaning of your Username: It started out trying to be much shorter, but all variations on Green = Love were taken when I originally thought of it... Don't remember where it was that I was trying to create the account on... First time you heard Regina: In my (now) sister-in-law's car. They were playing "On the Radio" over and over and it got so stuck in my head that I went home and bought all her albums on iTues. Upon first listen, I thought she was insane and almost regretted my purchases. But after I gave it all a real listen, I was hooked for good. Now I forget that her music sounds "weird" to some people. It's the most natural thing in the world to me now. Top 5 Regina Spektor songs: Gah! Hard... Ok, in no particular order: -Aquarius -Pavlov's Daughter -Dog and Pony -Us -Ain't No Cover Random fact about yourself: My parents tell me that my first word was "tortilla." Who/What inspires you: Taking a walk by myself always seems to inspire me. I live in the land of few walkers and many people who wouldn't think twice about driving their cars 3 blocks away, but are surprised at the suggestion of walking to get there. Walking makes me remember who I am. I try to walk when outdoors doesn't feel like hell. Best thing about last year: Traveling to other states. Looking forward to this year: In a month I'm going to visit NYC for the first time ever, and I am so, so stoked.
  10. Has anyone met Regina lately after a show?

Hi! I'm buying tickets to a show this fall and was wondering if anyone has met Regina after a show this year? If so, how? I've heard of people staying outside the venue 'til 2 AM, but I don't know about lately. This will be my first Regina show, and I've been a fan for a good 5 years at least... I'm the biggest nut I know! Haha. It would be nice to make up for lost time... (I'm not a stalker, btw... Just really, really, really excited!)
  11. Tori Amos Poll

The only reason I've ever heard the name "Tori Amos" is because people apperantly like to compare Regina to her. I just listened to her some of her music on YouTube, and honestly, I don't see any correlation what so ever. From what I listened to, her music is very sad and dark sounding. Except for the official Cornflake Girl music video, which was kind of confusing, she looked like she was going to cry while performing almost every song. I don't mean to offend any Tori fans. I know I probably just don't "get" her. But her lyrics seem... I don't know. Almost like she was trying to hard to be cryptic. The melody was really hard to find on some songs. Like everyone has indicated, her music is an aquired taste. It took me a while to "get" Regina, too. But I think both women are just to immensely, vastly, incredibly different.

I got to go to this show last night with my husband. I've been a fan for so long, but this was my very first show. The show was great, but we were just slightly too far back to make out Jack or Regina's features. Some fun highlights: She was just getting started with "How," and someone in the front section yells, "Marry my brother!" I thought she was going to ignore it for a moment, but then she stops completely and giggles and very playfully says, "Did you just say 'marry my brother?' You can't make jokes right now! This is for serious." Another time, lots of people were screaming and screeching in between songs, and she says, "Sometimes I worry for a moment that those really bloodcurdling ones are someone getting murdered. This whole place is kind of like a dark alley... With lights only on me... But, I mean, you know, it's mostly positive... Murder... Uh, and then the rest are like 'happy birthday' kinds, so it's ok!" After the show, we waited for her to come out so we could say hi. There were lots of people... Around 50 or so. Word is really getting out about meeting her, I guess. Plus, this is Austin, so everyone probably intuitively knows how to meet bands after shows any way. We kept expecting the crowd to diminish, especially because most people looked like they were in high school or something. But after an hour and a half, almost everyone was still there. She came out, and I think she was completely overwhelmed. Her body gaurds were trying to hurry everyone along with photos and autographs. So many people were freaking out and saying what a surreal experience it was for them. And they would freak out about her as they were standing next to her! Something about the whole thing just made me a little sick. It just felt like more people weren't even treating her as a person, just some supernatural entity who wasn't really there or something. It was weird. People kept trying to come back to her over and over again to sign shit, and she was turning them away. When it was my turn, I introduced myself and told her my name. I asked for a hug, which I got. Then I asked how she was, but she didn't really get my meaning. She just looked overwhelmed and said she had a lot of stuff to sign. I asked if I could at least have a picture, and she did come back and take one with us. We left after that so the crowd would at least be a tiny bit smaller. I just felt so sad for her... If there had been half as many people, I think she would have been fine. It was still a good night, and an amazing show. I have a picture with her! But it still breaks my heart thinking about all the people who didn't seem to actually care about HER, just their idol.

Thanks for the video, Robert! Were you at the Austin show?
  14. 2012.11.05 Bass Concert Hall Austin, TX

Isn't one of her band members name Mathias? Was it possibly said when she introduced him? Some people just depress me.

But it makes me so sad! I wanted to meet her as an amazing woman whom I ardently admire. I wanted to say something to show my appreciation for her talent and her art. She probably figured I was just the same kind of person as everyone else. I cried later and I'm beginning to cry now, because I feel like I'll never get another chance. Like, even if I go to see her again, I shouldn't wait for her with the rest because I've already got my picture... It's probably ridiculous. I'm ridiculous. But her music is like a part of me. She feels like a friend. I just wish I could have a normal conversation with her without all those star-struck fans around...
  16. Has anyone met Regina lately after a show?

Thank you all so much for the advice! You're super helpful. I've been watching old shows on youtube, psyching myself up about the show and the chance to meet here. It's less than 2 weeks away!!!
  17. What Reg songs can you play?

I haven't practiced in a while, and I'm still learning... But here's what I know on piano! Complete: Hero The Flowers Parts: Us Love Affair Folding Chair All the Rowboats Time is All Around Somedays Sunshine Another Town Ne Me Quitte Pas I should really sit down and learn the rest of these!

  19. Most Interesting Vocals/Quirks

Of course Regina's songs all have interesting vocals, and we all know her awesome quirks... But what are your favorite/most interesting songs of hers, as far as vocals go? My list will include (but is NOT limited to): -2.99 Cent Blues (Because of the way she sings it! It's so amazing the way she goes all over the place with her voice) -Prisoners (All her quirky "drum-beat" vocals, yawning sound effects, etc which are also found in a lot of other songs) -Your Honor (such a different angst-y sound that sounds funny coming from such a sweet girl) -Pavlov's Daughter (Because of her "rapping"/singing/speaking combo) -The Flowers (I love how the end of the song is just vocals and piano, with no lyrics. Brilliant!) -One More Time With Feeling- Live Version (So passionate!) -Dance Anthem Of The 80's (So fun!) -20 Years of Snow (I just love the way she sings it) -Bartender (I love that she sounds drunk half the time!) More to come... Also, what is your favorite Regina Vocal Quirk?
  20. Least favorite Regina Song?

So don't get me wrong, I am heels over head in love with Regina's music, but some songs I've never really cared for include: -Braille -Field Below And a few that I've seen people on here say are just SO amazing are Somedays and Samson. I like both songs a lot, but I've never thought they were WHOA AMAZING like some of her other stuff. Another thing I find funny is people think Samson is a sweet, sad, beautiful song... When I've always found it really comical. Maybe I have a really twisted sense of humor. What are your at the bottom of your Regina List?
  21. (500) Days of Summer

I just saw this movie. Very cute, good cinematography, AND it had two Regina songs in it! She is just getting more and more popular. And the songs used were not your usual BTH tracks either. "Us" was played in during the opening credits. I like that song. It's unusual, beautiful, and should be heard by many, many ears. And "Hero (Of The Story)" was played during a really fitting, sad, dramatic part. I loved it. I loved it because it's also a really good song and, while I seem to remember hearing that it was a bonus track on BTH, it's not one of those commonly heard songs. You'd have to be a pretty hardcore Regina fan to use two (not to mention those particular two) songs. The only thing I could think of that would be cooler would be to hear just a demo of one of her songs used in a movie. Anywho. If the people making this film are into Regina, what other reason do you have to get up and go see it? Now. XP

"sing the porcupine song" hahaha Aww that's hilarious! You should expand your repertoire and show some them more of the regina catalog. I used to sing a different regina song every time I walk into the locker room for gym class, but I was always the first one there so I never got caught. Yeah I sing Regina songs quite often at work. She's pretty much the only music I listen to any more, so her songs are always stuck in my head. But usually it's the more obscure ones that "outsiders" haven't heard of. XP

  25. Reg's true voice

Do you suppose it's maybe possible that she never actually 'put on' and sort of voice or style, but has actually played around with all of them? I think that 11:11 was more jazzy because she started feeling jazzy. And truly, each song does have it's own style, and "voice" as you put it. And if she does try to conform her voice to something, don't you think she's be doing it more so now, with producers, and media, and record label pressures? However the other day, I listened to some of 11:11 and then some of Far and noticed... Her voice has changed. In the same sense that a teenage boy's voice changes. Not so drastically, but it has gotten slightly deeper and just sounds... More grown-up now? Yeah. I think every single one of her songs is her true voice. She's too creative to try to explain it another way.
