June 23rd it is!!

It's the Super De-Luxe X-Treme Edition of my new album! Audience: [general chaos]

  7. Why has this site been neglected?

Umm... excuse me but this site does have a good community going. Did you not notice how much fun everyone has on here? These message boards have one of the best communities of any that I've seen... I agree that the main site has kind of been neglected, but these forums are active as ever... I'm thinking he was talking about the main reginaspektor.com page, which has a link to Brümstix as if it is a direct part of it, therefore leading one (including myself at first) to think they were part of the same site (which it is not). He does make a good point that the main webpage is severely neglected.
  8. LAUGHING WITH VIDEO!!!

no, that link is actually really helpful... just not applicable here. It seems that "fair use" is a valid excuse, even when it's really not. Oh well. Such is copyright law.
  9. LAUGHING WITH VIDEO!!!

Regina's videos have been removed entirely, not just muted.

Has anyone grabbed a recording of it?

Which I suppose is the goal? Either way, this is too much cuteness for one video. Also, is it bad that I immediately started searching ebay for that radio? I think it is.

  19. BLUE LIPS!!

I love this song. A gorgeous song, it has always made me marvel at how Regina can take such a simple piano line and infuse it with the profuse emotion she does. When she is playing the piano and singing, everything flows out of her and her performance is best. As such, I find myself disappointed in the vocal track on this new recording. There is much less emotion in this studio recording than there is live. Yes, I understand that there are differences. But no, I don't think a studio version should sound like it was recorded inside of a pillow-fort. There's no echo or reverb on the vocal track, and her voice loses its "haunting" quality for which I appreciated it. Fully granted, tracks, ideas, and directions will change as time rolls on, and a concert hall is not the same as a recording booth. But... it just doesn't sit right with me. I imagine the recording process for this album involved recording the piano part separately from the vocal part (Regina mentioned there being separate places.. a "live" booth and a "dry" booth, or something similar). Because of this, I think the urgency of singing above the level of the piano is lost, and we find Regina almost whispering the lyrics. I just... don't feel the connection. Her voice and the piano sound, along the same vein, disconnected. Surely, studios offer much more opportunity to experiment with new instruments and sounds, but I don't "get" how these all fit together. Also, those drums. Those damned drums. Why must they sound so artificial?
  20. Beacon Theatre - June 17, 2009

I got row BB, slightly right of center. I hope she's set back a bit from the edge so I can see her.

  23. What are you Eeting right now?

I had pistachio yesterday. (I'm fairly certain). So good! Although green tea anything really gets me. Hershey's makes this chocolate bar in Japan with a green tea center. SO GOOD.
  24. What are you Eeting right now?

All I've eaten since yesterday afternoon is ice cream. My throat is incredibly sore and the cold helps... Yesterday I had incredible gelato from a rather unassuming cart in front of Alice Tully Hall... yum!

Either way, I hope they're excellent shows!!!
