  1. An up-to-date Regina fansite?

I should have more time to help work on this (or any other Regina fansite, if these plans have been scrapped in favor of something else?) soon, as classes will be over soon. Any updates on the status of this very worthy endeavor?
  2. Regina Song Opinion Poll

NOTE: I forgot to add "Small Town Moon" to the above list, and I made some typos: "Mermaid" was mislabeled as "Mermaids", and "I Cut Off My Hair" (a.k.a. "Definition of a Crazy Person") was mislabeled as "She Cut Off Her Hair". Corrections made. 3. Regina Song Opinion Poll

I was wondering if y'all would be interested in rating, on a simple 1-5 scale, how much you like or dislike various Regina songs. You can do as many or as few as you want, but I think it'd be really interesting to see where people's opinions tend to diverge and converge, plus it'd give us our first comprehensive idea of which songs are the "community favorites". The scale is: 5 - Favorite. "It's one of my favorites ever!" 4 - Great. "I love it!" 3 - Good. "I like it a lot." 2 - Fair. "It's pretty good." 1 - Mediocre. "Eh, I don't especially care for it." 0 - Poor. "I hate it." I made this poll because I wanted to get a more thorough and nuanced understanding of Regina fans' relative opinions on Regina's songs. I've found that most Regina fans have trouble choosing just one "favorite"--myself included. A system like this would allow for more flexibility than most "favorite" polls, allowing people to choose how they distribute various songs--for example, one person might have just one song rated "5", while another might have 30 songs rated "5". We've had lots of polls on people's favorite Regina songs, but I've never seen a poll for people's least favorite ones. This will simultaneously fulfill both roles: it will tell us what songs tend to average at "1", at "3", at "5", etc. It will tell us if most people agree on a certain song's rating (be it low or high), or whether a certain song is a "love it or hate it" one that sharply splits people's opinions. It will tell us what songs people tend to like in groups (e.g., "if you like Apres Moi, you'll probably like Pound of Flesh", or the like), giving us a good method to recommend certain songs to new listeners who have only heard a few Regina songs and just need one more "push" to become fans. And, if people want to give a little personal info about themselves, we will also be able to identify what songs different groups of fans tend to like: whether teenaged fans or middle-aged ones gravitate towards certain songs, whether there's a male/female divide, whether newer fans tend to like certain songs more or less than older ones, etc. You can give as much or as little personal info as you wish to; I may remove this option if people aren't interested in the extra work, or encourage everyone to do it if people agree that it would be very interesting: - What's your date of birth? - When did you become a Regina fan? - What are your favorite musicians and/or music genres and/or albums? - What's your gender and/or sexual orientation? - Where do you live and/or where are you from? - On a scale of 1 to 10, how obsessed/in love with Regina's music are you? - Anything else of note you'd like to say about yourself, such as interests and hobbies, religion and politics, ... To help people remember which songs they can choose from, here is a list of all the Regina songs known to have available recordings. You can rate as many or as few of them as you wish. If you want, you can also give different ratings to different versions of certain songs--for example, you can opt to give distinct ratings for the Begin to Hope "Samson" vs. the Songs "Samson", or for a live version of a song vs. a studio-recorded one. It's up to you. 2.99 Cent Blues 20 Years of Snow 8th Floor A Cannon A Cooler Version A Lesson in How Fleeting Preservation Is AB Aching to Pupate Ain't No Cover All is Love All the Rowboats Another Town Après Moi Aquarius Ave Maria Baby Jesus Back of a Truck Baobabs Bartender Begin to Hope Belt Better Blue Lips Bobbing for Apples Bon Idée Braille Buildings BYOS Carbon Monoxide Chelsea Hotel #2 Chemo Limo Consequence of Sounds Dance Anthem of the 80s Daniel Cowman December Dog and Pony Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori Düsseldorf Dust to Dust Edit Fidelity Field Below Flyin' Folding Chair Genius Next Door Ghost of Corporate Future Halikha LeKesariya Hallelujah Happy Hooker Hero Hotel Song Human of the Year I Cut Off My Hair I Want to Sing In the Studio Just Like the Movies Kids Lacrimosa Lady Little Boxes Long Brown Hair Lounge Loveology Love Affair Love Profusion Love, You're a Whore Lucky Penny Lulliby Making Records Mary Ann Mermaid Mockingbird Modern Girls & Old Fashion Men Music Box My Man Ne Me Quitte Pas Ode to Divorce Oedipus On The Radio One-String Blues Open Opposite Ends Paris Patron Saint Pavlov's Daughter Poor Little Rich Boy Pound of Flesh Prisoners Raindrops Reading Time with Pickle Reginasaurus Rejazz Rockland County Sailor Song Samson Scarecrow & Fungus Secret Stash Silly Eye Color Generalizations Small Town Moon Soho Somedays Summer in the City Sunshine That Time The Bronx The Clocks Were Asleep The Devil Come to Bethlehem The Flowers The Mustard Musketeers The Noise The Soup The Virgin Queen The Wallet Time is All Around Uh-Merica Uncle Bobby Us You Your Honor Wasteside If you don't have some of these songs and want to listen to them, you can find them at sites like http://www.reginaspektor.net and http://brottishluv.multiply.com/music/item/1.

  5. Tears and Regina

By far the Regina song that evokes the most emotion in me is "Braille". Other songs that stir me some include "Chemo Limo", "Human of the Year", "Dog and Pony", "On The Radio", and "Small Town Moon".

  7. Regigantic List of Song Recordings

Yeah. I'm just using it for the sake of simplicity. Anyone is free to go through the list and either edit it directly, or post here with changes or additions.

quote: I think a more practical approach would be to do something like this: http://bliss.its-official.com/songdetail.php?songId=52 But that site isn't user-edited. And it seems overly complicated and labyrinthine for a simple starting list. The only purpose of the Wiki is to allow anyone to contribute it to it freely in a simple and easy way, so we have all that fan input to start from when we move it to a more solid, aesthetically-pleasing site. The Wiki listing is just a provisional, temporary one until the list expansion has reached a plateau. quote: If you would want to follow this kind of example, the pages can be altered to include links to recordings. I never planned to add links to recordings on the Wiki site. As I stated above, I planned to start adding multi-page formatting, and links to downloads and the like, after Reginapolis is up and running and we have some sort of system like the one eschbach set up at http://aaron.doomray.com/aaron/reginapolis/Songs.aspx quote: I just don't think a page with listing every recording available is the best way to go about this sort of thing. It could be divided more cohesively. I only wanted to start it off this way to make it easy for people to glance over and expand on, for starters, because I expect there to be a huge number of recordings not on the list yet. Once the list's a little more comprehensive, and thus not in a constant state of flux from new additions (.. wishful thinking on my part?), it'll make more sense to settle it down on a more static, formal website. Do you think that was a bad plan? I'll gladly switch to another place if you think there's a more convenient, user-friendly, or easy-to-update location for us to start from in making this list. The only real reason I went with the Wiki is because it was the simplest "anyone can edit it" site that was readily at hand, I'm open to switching if necessary.
  9. Mini-rant.

The last time Regina updated the site herself was March 7th, 2006 (or at least, that's the last time Regina was referred to here in the first person, rather than the third person). Presumably she's been busy since then promoting "Begin to Hope" and touring. However, she's made up for that with personal updates to her MySpace page (which she first linked to in the March 7th post). That's essentially been her place for cute, personal update messages ever since March 2006, whereas reginaspektor.com has been more of an "official" site, with the bare-bones news. To give a sense of context, here's a timeline of site updates from 2005 until Regina's last personal post (all subsequent updates to reginaspektor.com, as opposed to myspace, are third-person and so aren't listed), followed by the MySpace updates: 2006-12-13: Regina (MySpace) 2006-10-24: Non-Regina (MySpace) 2006-06-23: Regina (MySpace) 2006-06-11: Regina (MySpace) 2006-04-21: Non-Regina (MySpace) 2006-04-16: Regina (MySpace) 2006-04-10: Regina (MySpace) 2006-03-23: Regina (MySpace) 2006-03-08: Regina (MySpace) 2006-03-07: Regina 2006-03-02: Regina (MySpace) 2006-02-06: Non-Regina 2006-02-02: Non-Regina 2006-01-17: Non-Regina 2006-01-11: Non-Regina 2006-01-05: Regina 2005-11-29: Non-Regina 2005-11-28: Regina 2005-10-14: Non-Regina 2005-09-16: Regina 2005-09-03: Regina 2005-08-24: Non-Regina? 2005-08-12: Regina 2005-08-10: Non-Regina? 2005-07-28: Non-Regina 2005-07-27: Non-Regina 2005-07-22: Non-Regina 2005-07-18: Non-Regina 2005-07-08: Regina 2005-07-07: Non-Regina 2005-07-07: Non-Regina 2005-06-04: Regina 2005-05-24: Regina 2005-05-12: Non-Regina 2005-04-20: Regina 2005-04-20: Non-Regina 2005-03-01: Regina 2005-02-18: Regina 2005-02-07: Regina 2005-01-29: Regina 2005-01-09: Regina There were no non-Regina updates from 2004, and few or none before that.

Thanks for the suggestion! The problem is that if I add any more digits to the "year" column, I'll have to move every other column an extra tab over, which will waste considerable space and scroll more of the "notes" section off the page (and the "title" and "source" sections already need another tab or two, to fit all the necessary information in). All of these format problems will be fixed when we make the move to Reginapolis, but if you think it will make a big difference to add "200" to the start of every year section, I suppose I can give it a try. Tell me what you think of the result: http://lyricwiki.org/User:Silence/Spektorsongs Anyway, anyone have any songs they'd like to add? Or sites where there are songs available that aren't yet listed?
  11. Regigantic List of Song Recordings

This is an ambitious expansion on the Complete Spektography list: an attempt to list every single known recording of a song performed by Regina. It will serve to consolidate the entire fanbase's knowledge of what songs are available, and I expect it to eventually be transferred to Reginapolis, along with links to download as many of the unreleased songs as possible. For now, though, we're in the basic information-gathering stage. Anyone and everyone can contribute: go to http://lyricwiki.org/User:Silence/Spektorsongs to see the current listing. While there, if you wish, you can hit the "edit" button to make any changes you wish to the list directly; simply make whatever changes or additions to the listing you wish. Alternatively, feel equally free to post the song information here, and I'll update the list myself. The song information consists of the title, the recording date (format Y-MM-DD; e.g., 1-07-09 is July 9, 2001), the source (album/demo name for studio-made, location for live performances), the time (i.e., song length), and various notes (which, again, feel free to change or expand on). The current list seems long (it's got over 500 songs at this point), but I know it is only a small fraction of the body of recordings that we all have, if we pool our knowledge. With your help, I'd love to get a more comprehensive listing ready, to clear up various misconceptions and misunderstandings about what recordings are and aren't known to exist.

  13. Matzoh ball soup is absolutely amazing. Latkes are amazing too, try them if you haven't!
  14. Regina #4 on Subterranean's top ten of 2006

I don't usually watch it, but I randomly happened to see it on MTV2 last night. Very cool to see Regina's video in-between the Dresden Dolls and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
