  1. New vinyl on Record Store Day!

Amazing!!! Bulat Okudjzava and Regina Spektor are my favorite!!! Cannot wait to hear her cover of Okudjzava!
  2. Announcement about DVD :)

OH MY!!! It arrived by mail today!!!!!!!!!!! The quality is superb, not to offend the fans recordings that I love so much. It's a funny feeling to hear to her old songs, that I know every note and every accent by heart, in a slightly, barely noticeable different performance this time around. I love it!!!

I am quite happy to buy it from Amazon, since I know that I will have it on 11/22. My question is whether the two disks they are talking about is the audio on one and the DVD on another since it says "format: CD." Very confusing... It is categorized as a blue-ray CD... http://bluray.highdefdigest.co...inaspektor_live.html Marry Ann, the Bluray/CD means you get both the blu-ray disc as well as a CD. If you don't have a blu-ray compatible player, you should not buy this. On Amazon they're selling the Audio CD as well as the blu-ray separately. On the warner bros website, they're selling the CD+DVD combo. This is probably the best and most affordable option. And yeah, I think it's ridiculous that the CD would be priced higher than the blu-ray. Thank you for sorting things out!!! I cannot believe that they added the product on Regina's website only now, instead of yesterday. Obviously, I have already ordered it from Barnes and Noble this morning.

  6. Announcement about DVD :)

What do you guys think about this option at Barnes and Noble? http://music.barnesandnoble.co...&USRI=regina+spektor It's a CD and a DVD with the same tracks, so you buy the same songs twice in different formats. I don't really want a CD format, because I have these songs on her other CDs, except "Bobbing for Apples," "Silly Eyes Colour Generalizations," and "Love you are a Whore." I am not sure it is worth it... I wish they had just the DVD of the concert. Seems like the studio is milking it... I doubt there would be a super fan edition, though.
  7. RIP Dan Cho

As trivial as it may sound. ... My condolences to Dan Cho's family and his band members.
  8. Regina at The White House!

Playing the video of Regina's appearance at the White House, I couldn't shake off the feeling that THE SWORD AND THE PEN sounded familiar. I did a little research and came across a very popular movie in Russia during the 80's. Please check it out: and The Sword and the Pen
  9. Regina at The White House!

    I agree, Barth.
  10. Regina at The White House!

I don't mean to offend anybody and I may seem harsh, but I really want to question the meaning of Heritage Month Celebration. quote: the enduring values of a history marked by so much tragedy –- not cynicism or despair, not callous indifference. Every person in this room knows somebody –- perhaps a mother or father, an aunt, an uncle, perhaps yourself –- who exemplifies this heritage. Every person in this room stands at the end of an unbroken chain of perseverance –- of a conviction that a better future is possible -- that doesn’t just offer a lesson to Jewish Americans. It offers a lesson to all Americans. And ultimately, that is what we are celebrating today. The President's quote mentions "the enduring values of a history marked by so much tragedy" - however, the quote does not specify what these values are! "The chain of unbroken perseverance" is exactly all the tragic events in Jewish history, including the Holocaust. It is a long-standing Jewish tradition to remember all the tragic events at the highest moment of celebration. This is what the Passover all about. Jews celebrate their deliverance from slavery in Egypt by performing a ritual of remembrance of their horrible condition and God's grace every year. There is not one Jewish celebration/holiday (except for Shavuot, which is a farming celebration) which is a purely joyous event. Each Jewish holiday has a moment of sadness to it, even the weddings. It is our tradition and it is what makes us persevere. If the Heritage Month is a celebration of Jewish tradition and the Jewish culture, remembering Holocaust on such occasion would be very appropriate. HOWEVER, I CAN SEE HOW THE LYRICS OF "INK STAINS" COULD BE MISINTERPRETED AND CAUSE A POLITICAL SCANDAL. Hence, I wish Regina had an opportunity to write a song for the occasion, instead of taking an existing song like "The Sword and the Pen" and adding a russian-jewish flavored twist to it. In any case, her performance was great! and she handled the stress pretty well. Here is a review of the event that I find very interesting: 0:t1275172782:&cd=YoB4G3vniYg&usg=AFQjCNGc5yjs0nDyGbu2_kqqEvljriLrng" target="_blank">http://www.google.com/url?sa=X...DyGbu2_kqqEvljriLrng

This is a celebration of the Jewish heritage and what it has meant to for and in this nation. I wonder why do you think that "Ink Stains" is not good for the occasion? Holocaust is Jewish heritage all over the world. Many Holocaust survivors live in the US. Some of them even wrote books about it and these books are taught in college courses on Jewish-American literature.
  12. ReSpektOnline.com

THANKS for the tip! Is there something wrong with quicktime player installed in the mac? Most of these files are AVI...?
  13. ReSpektOnline.com

Respektonline was always the best source for songs and videos. But now I got a mac and it does not play the videos that I have saved from the site I am technologically challenged... any advice would be really appreciated! Million thanks for all your great work on this site!!!
  14. I agree with andreseng! Regina is 29 now, her first album 11:11 was self-produced in 2001 when she was 21. She just finished college and was far from being a celeb in any way. It's a bogus story.
  15. All the rowboats!!! Cannon Mermaid
  16. Folding Chair

I hear it too!!! So sad about it. It could be intentional. All the old songs are flatter on the disk than in live performance. I think it is intentional - to appeal to a broader audience. My favorite song "Apres Moi" is emotionless on "Begin to Hope" and great on all the live performance. Also, the drums on "Folding Chair" are too strong. Sometimes they overpower Regina's voice. If they were lighter, they would be rather cool. This was rather a disappointment, because I really love this song. Cannot wait till she records "All the row-boats" - my other favorite. quote: Originally posted by lina: so... i'm the only one who hears the horribly flat end note on "i've got a perfect bo-o-o-o-ody"? it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. D: since she never went off pitch there live, it is probably not intentional, either. please tell me i am not the only one who hears it *eep*
  17. The Next New Single?

Completely agree, it's going to be Calculation. It's perfect for a single. Also, my personal choice would be a single with "All the row-boats" - one of my favorite songs.
  18. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

The Sword & The Pen is DIVINE! quote: Originally posted by andreseng: The Sword & The Pen.....

**** Bear: Regina... Regina: Shhhhh quote: Originally posted by andreseng: People I have bought cd's before and am very familiar with dead spots, secret songs, bonus tracks etc...but 10 mins is way over the top, *don't you think? *a line from an album with a secret song. first to name it wins nothing....GO!
  20. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

Mine is 13:10 min. too. quote: Originally posted by andreseng: Now this is strange. Track 13 - Man of a Thousand Faces - on my brand new Deluxe Warner Bros direct CD is 13:09. It consists of the song for 3:09 and than 10:00 minutes of dead silence. Then followed by Track 14 - Time Is All Around. Anyone else???
  21. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

Oh MY!!! Got the disk and the litho. It is rather overwhelming... the new production of the songs I love so much is hard to get used to. But it is very good. I am in love with "The Sword and the Pen" - very unlike Regina, but great. "The Calculation" is so cool. "The Blue Lips" are gorgeous. Yet, I feel that "The Folding Chair" is spoiled. ... Wonder what are your first impressions? No final judgements yet
  22. Beacon Theatre - June 17, 2009

APPT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE WONDERFUL RECORDING!!!!

I agree. She wouldn't stage it! As a matter of fact this is not the first time she forgets the lyrics to this particular song. The previous performance I've been to she got stuck at The Consequence of Sounds and got help from the audience. Maybe is indeed not a rapper quote: Originally posted by Aonex: Absolutely amazing show last night... she was so adorable, being very chatty with the audience. I took a couple Reg concert newbies with me and they were just as impressed with her performance. Something that bugged me though was one of them suggested that maybe her screw up during Consequence of Sound could maybe have been staged. Now as a concert "veteran" I know it's almost a given that Reg will screw up at some point and forget a line from one of her songs. It's completely understandable considering the sheer number of songs that she's composed, and also how scatter brained she gets sometimes during performances. Also, it seems like she's so accustomed to this happening that she doesn't panic as much and is more than willing to ask for the audience's help. I don't know, maybe she looked a little too comfortable asking for help that it came across as staged? I have no idea. Either way, I wouldn't believe for a second that Reg would stoop to doing so contrived. What do you guys think?
  24. Beacon Theatre - June 17, 2009

Dear Sweetdownfall, I cannot say I am Elton John's fan, but I do appreciate his talent. Truth is that POP is not my favorite genre. But I think that Regina's last night performance was POP and of the very best kind. Comparison with Elton John was a complement, since I think he is the king of movies music. I can easily see many of Regina's songs from last performance in movies and The Machine could be a Broadway hit. I am really happy for her success - I have no doubt the new disk will be a hit. Now I am awaiting till she gets bored with POP and moves to something else quote: Originally posted by sweetestdownfall: quote: Originally posted by Marry Ann: Oh my GOD!!! One of her best performances ever!!!!!!!!! Elton John has a serious competition I agree! I felt she really gave it her all and did such a great job of belting out those songs. wait are you an Elton John fan? or are you just drawing comparison b/c of their piano playing? (I am an Elton fan so it would be nice to see someone else on here who is! hehe)
