  1. Who's Still Here? and Miscellaneous...

I check in occasionally! But I was also mostly a lurker back in the day.
  2. Ode to Divorce cover w/ cello

I get all tongue-tied near the end, and I know I'm not making it to some notes (I am blaming this partly on stupid jaw problems I'm having right now)... I hope you at least find it interesting!

  4. Song for Losers

I don't know who to quote and reply to going AWWW! All y'all! Y'awwwll... Thank you thank you thank you! Oh, and in case anyone is hesitating because I mentioned a song being 6 minutes long (and maybe they are power-walking to a business meeting), there are short songs as well! "Made in Vermont" is short but sweet; "The Song I Didn't Write" is short but bitter; "Immunodeficiency" is short but... complex? "Paid By Weight" is a normalish length and pretty freaking awesome and intense. ANYWAY... Geozzii, OREGON, yeah! Woo! And same birthday? You should come join me for the big birthday album release extravaganza! Also, question: Do you meet a lot of people with our birthday? I feel like they pop up everywhere.

Awww, thank you! I like to think my music is a mix of deep and dorky... And a troubled piece of fruit is necessarily bursting with substance. Eugene isn't that far away! Hopefully I'll be playing in Seattle this fall... I really want every Brümstixer to listen to the song "Japanese Garden" (my 6-minute epic with lyrics in English, French, and Russian).
  6. Song for Losers

Aaaand a million years later, I finished my album.
  7. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

Oh, just the clip. But I definitely love all 30 seconds of it.
  8. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

Oh, geeze, I forgot to check here for a few days, so now it feels like Christmas. Blue Lips sounds AWESOME, in my opinion.
  9. Won't you help a brother out? :)

Ahhh you guys rock!! I'm in 8th place today, out of 52 bands/musicians. Woohoo!
  10. Won't you help a brother out? :)

My beautiful fellow Regina fans... I come to you on my hands and knees to beg that you do me a quick favor. I feel guilty posting this, but desperate times call for desperate measures. There's this contest going on in my town for three bands/musicians to play a show at a fairly prominent local venue, the WOW Hall. All I have to do is get tons of votes and I could be one of those performers! The reason I'm posting this obnoxious message is that this other band managed to garner some two hundred votes in a similar manner (that is, through an online forum) and now I need to step up my game if I want to catch up. If you wish to support me, all you have to do is send an e-mail to eugenechosen@yahoo.com and say, "I vote for Stephan Nance!" And you can actually vote once per e-mail account, so if you have a dozen e-mail accounts lying around, it's fair game. (Seriously.) If you want to look more into the contest, the website is: www.eugenechosen.com Hopefully I'm not violating a billion rules here... Please let me know if that's the case. Happy Groundhog Day!

  12. Just wanted to say hello

I've been looking around for the right thread but i'm just gonna post here. Hi everyone! My name's Jaraad. I'm 14. Live in the U.S. I've loved Regina more every second since my sister got B2H for my other sister for her bday a couple years back. I'm interested in knowing what kind of music everyone else listens to. I listen to a lot of female singer songwriters, a lot of Regina, of course, also ingrid michaelson, more regina, sia, other people. I've always hoped to find a male version of Regina, but no male singer songwriters I have found to date are that great, in my opinion. Maybe Ben Folds, some of his songs anyway. I'm also curious how many other members of Brumstix(the stix? is that what the cool kids say?) are themselves aspiring singer songwriters. I've written a couple of songs, and though I don't consider myself very good, my greatest desire is to magically become good, and be the male regina. Ah, dreams. Okay moving on from depressing myself. Questions 'bout the stix: What is that infamous book that was handed off to the Great One herself? What is all this bumping going on? Good to have you with us, Jaraad! I can see that the others answered most of your questions. Some other musicians on the board are rawin, Jeremy (Stepped on a Syringe), and even myself on occasion. Always glad to welcome more talent! I can tell from the musical thread that you have a knack for writing as well! Welcome to the Stix, yo! Hi Jaraad! I'm Stephan, pronounced like Steven. I'm new too. I saw Crispy Ben play a didgeridoo once! Jaraad, for female singers I'd recommend Ani DiFranco, Emiliana Torrini, Amanda Palmer / The Dresden Dolls, Jenny Owen Youngs, Jesca Hoop, Mirah, The Ditty Bops, Joanna Newsom, Melanie Horsnell, Rasputina, Tegan & Sara, and Lindsay Mac... I'm somewhat picky when it comes to guy singers, but some that I really enjoy (with album and/or song suggestions) are Harry Nilsson (albums: Harry, and The Point!), Jason Mraz (album: Waiting For My Rocket to Come), Jonathan Coulton (song: "Skullcrusher Mountain"), Rocky Votolato (album: Makers), Smog (album: A River Ain't Too Much to Love), Sondre Lerche (album: Phantom Punch, song w/ Regina: "Hell No"), Sufjan Stevens (album: Illinois)... I'm an aspiring singer songwriter... (You can listen to me if you click the link below my name.) That's awesome that you've written a couple of songs! I wish I'd gotten started that early, but I was busy playing/singing things other people had written. Oh well!
  13. Song for Losers

Yay! Today is rainy and chilly, it'd be a good day to stay in and watch X-Men. Probably a little too cold to dance through puddles, sadly...

  15. new year's resolutions

I'm still working on my list... They're all things I've been doing or trying to do anyway, but now they get to be called resolutions for a couple of months. 1. Take my daily vitamins daily (a novel idea, isn't it?) 2. Spend more quality time with my parrot 3. Do more yoga 4. Make a dent in my stack of Books To Read 5. Make a dent in my stack of Movies To Watch 6. Continue learning to juggle 7. Knit socks (I've conquered mittens; socks are next) 8. Spend more time with my family
