  1. "Far" Regina's Next Album :D

All I can say is, this album will be steller. I know it. I can't wait.
  2. Remember when...

I gotta feel really sorry for all the major label artists these days. It's like... they jumped on borad right at the worst moment. Back in the old days the companies would let their artists develop, not anymore. The industry is dying a well-deserved bloody death and they still want to push people around like dolls. I remember how much promise Silvertide had with their stunning debut album, they could have preempted Wolfmother with this retro rock fad. And now... the band can't even release the 2 albums worth of material they've recorded because the label doesn't want to. They can't even release it themselves because the label owns them. Regina would have been better off keeping to CD Baby and Youtube. She'd sell less records, but make exponentially more per record and she'd probably actually make a lot more money in the long run because of that. The industry becomes more obsolete every day. I'll always love Reg and keep buying her records, but the day that she got too big to post on her own message board has really made me cynical. Even Axl Rose and Black Francis find time to post on boards now and then. When was the last time Reggie posted on here?
  3. Is Regina "rock"?

Not "rock" in the broad sense that includes rap, jazz, metal, and pretty much everything but classical. I'm talking rock as in, "dude, check out these guitar solos!" I frequently see Regina described as rock on Wikipedia. What do you think? Personally, I don't think you can describe her as rock. Your Honor and Better could be considered rock. But can you consider a ballad like Ode to Divorce rock music when that's the most common style for the songs? She has a rock kind of attitude but I don't think this kind of music is "rock". Do you consider Tori Amos and Fiona Apple rock? I don't. Not quite sure what I would call it, piano music, extreme pop, not sure. I think it connects back to folk artists like Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez moreso than rock bands like Led Zeppelin or Nirvana.

  5. Can't wait for a Regina Spektor boxset...

Not that there's necessarily going to be one. But I figure there must be one eventually. It may take 10 or 20 years to come out... But damn man, I think it's completely absurd how many songs Reg has that haven't even been released, and probably won't be featured on upcoming albums. I mean where do all these songs even come from? There's so many of them. And most of them are of such high quality, as well-crafted and enjoyable as the stuff she's released. Even the ones that aren't album quality, that's mainly the sound-quality and not the quality of the actual song.

  7. not yet...

Wow I thought it was new too. Any clue if she's gonna release a new album soon? I think it's time.
  8. New Songs Debuted in 2007

Wow so have we heard the 1999 demo yet?

I'm no stranger to breaking stereotypes. Virtually everything I do makes me worthy of being called "gay." I just wish these particular guys did not feel the need to use the tv to like nature so frequently, when there are so many other things they could be liking instead...

  11. My gosh, the radio recut of Better is dreadful.

I just listened to it again today off of her MySpace and it's just... oh my gosh... it makes me so terribly sad that they ruined what is probably my favorite song of all-time. I mean, there are some good aspects to it for sure. But it's really so tragically terrible compared to the original version. They cut out all of its punch and replaced it with complacent goofiness. Is she playing it like that live? That would make me cry.

    Also, Myspace.com/reginaspektorfanisme.
  14. So many frickin' songs... What will become of it?

I think it's ridiculous and absurd how many unreleased songs we have! It's unheard of. What will become of all these songs? Will they show up on subsequent albums? Will there ever be a Regina boxset for the forgotten songs? Maybe she will become like Neil Young and just record an endless shitload of different songs that don't get released (until 30 years later).
