  1. Cheap seats my arse

This reminds me of 2009 when I tried to stand up in the Chicago Theatre for the encore--JUST THE ENCORE--and was bullied by everyone around me into sitting my ass down. I guess it was inappropriate behavior but I knew it was the last song so I felt gutsy and yeah, I miss the small venues. But I'm very happy for Regina.
  2. 2012 US Tour

Nothing Chicago/Midwest? Does anyone think this is likely to happen?

yay! kenny, i am at work so i have not watched the other videos besides ode to divorce and laughing with. but those two are incredible, as well as your photos. i'm happy for all of you that were there! also jealous, but luckily i'm a good sport for the most part. i'm also happy that your friend count has increased, but worried about the half a friend. were they involved in some horrible accident, or are they kind of a jerk half the time? george--next time i'm in new york--which i hope isn't too long from now and i REALLY hope is for something regina-related--we'll have to set up a fun lunchtime or other-meal diversion.
  5. The Greek Theatre, LA 10/28/09

I'm going I'm going I'm going! And I don't even live there anymore. Excuse to fly home--it's been awhile. Woohoo! And I got pit seats (back row, though) thanks to an awesome friend who is good at buying tickets. I too love the Greek and I can't believe our Regina is playing such a big venue!!
  6. Chicago Theatre 9/12/09

Hiyas to you both. So i ended up getting third row pit seats. woohoo. pretty darn happy. Awesome that you're going to be there too, Aaron! And congrats on the amazing seats. I WISH i could go to Ann Arbor, but midweek there's just no way. I DID however buy a ticket to St. Paul, but I think I will have to sell it. I have two friends coming to visit me and going to the Chicago show with me. A road trip to Minnesota might not be what they have in mind for their first-ever visit to Chicago. Hmm, I'll work on 'em though.
  7. any Midwesterners going to both St. Paul & Chicago?

I'm in Chicago and I'm toying with the idea of going to St. Paul on Friday 9/11, then coming back Saturday morning 9/12 to go to the Chicago show. I don't have a car, so I'm wondering if anyone interested in a similar adventure would go in on a car rental with me, or drive their car and I'd help with gas money. Or maybe there's a good bus option. I don't know anyone in St. Paul, so I'd be getting a cheap place to stay or couch-surfing, probably. I don't know how doable this is, but if anyone is interested, we should discuss it! I actually spent this past weekend doing a very similar journey--saw Metric in Minneapolis on Saturday and in Chicago on Sunday. Traffic was hell getting back into Chicago--but the Chicago Theatre is assigned seats, so maybe getting there early isn't a priority.

  9. Chicago Theatre 9/12/09

First of all thank you George for pointing out the tour date announcement! How come the mailing list didn't send anything?? My question is for anyone who's ever been to the Chicago Theatre. How does seating work? I looked at the seating chart and I see that there's a "pit" section. Does anyone know or have a good guess as to whether tickets will be for assigned seats, general admission, or maybe mostly assigned seats and a small number of GA pit tickets, or what? How does it work? Regina in a theatre venue, wow!!! Being in the midwest I totally want to skip off to St. Paul and then Ann Arbor to see her, too, but grr, work--so probably no Ann Arbor midweek. But St. Paul is a possibility--and if I knew that my ticket for Chicago was an assigned seat I'd be even more inclined to do St. Paul because I wouldn't be worried about getting to the Chicago Theatre early . . . advice, shared enthusiasm welcomed. hooray for tour!!!

  11. Bowery Ballroom Jan 22 2009

i'm still reliving 1/22 over in my head....the day regina comes to my newly adopted city of chicago...i don't know, i might faint from happiness.
  12. Bowery Ballroom Jan 22 2009

Prisoners is one of my favorites ever.......
  13. Bowery Ballroom Jan 22 2009

Bruce, i'm so glad that you had such a good experience...and yes, if there's ever a show in Australia, i'll let you know if i need a ticket. i've been listening to Aaron's mp3s over and over....aaah but i keep going back to small town moon. a tad obsessed, i think.
  14. Bowery Ballroom Jan 22 2009

Hahaha that's right. And well, Bruce coming from Australia gives me all the more reason to travel to see Regina...there's no way I'd be putting that much time or money into the trip. That is, unless she toured in Australia...
  15. Bowery Ballroom Jan 22 2009

I really cannot seem to stop playing the mp3 of Small Town Moon from the Bowery show on repeat...I walk around singing it. Luckily I'm so bundled up in Chicago and there are so many cars and buses going by around me, no one can hear me. Oh do I love that song. Well, everybody has covered almost every possible detail about this wonderful day with Regina. I just have to throw in a little bit of my own memories. When she came out after the show, she spent quite a bit of time talking to the Australian couple who were there...I think us stixers all watched and waited with extreme anticipation. I did, anyway. When she came over to us, she talked to us all and then there was a lull, like no one was stepping up, and I freaked out, and the only thing I could think of to say was that I'd come from Chicago and that the last time I saw her was Halloween '07 in Anaheim when she was wearing the Zorro costume. Her gorgeous eyes lit up and she told us all about her Halloween costume this past year, when she dressed as "a dude, like, a typical dude" in her brother's suit ("he's taller than me now," she said), and she told us how everyone gave her these ridiculous looks like she was some creepy guy, before they even realized it was her. I really just wanted to say thank you and give her a giant hug but I'm so shy and oh so very starstruck when it comes to Ms. Regina. We all hung on her every word and it was just such an atmosphere of mutual appreciation between her and us and everyone; it was wonderful. I can't wait for the next show. Now that I've established myself as someone willing to travel for Regina, I don't see why I shouldn't wind up in New York (or wherever) the next time she's playing a show....
