  1. Favorite Movie Quotes

Rushmore: Max Fischer: I like your nurse's uniform, guy Dr. Peter Flynn: These are O.R. scrubs Max Fischer: O R they? Max Fischer: So tell me Curly, how do you know Miss Cross? Dr. Peter Flynn: We went to Harvard together. Max Fisher: Oh that's great. I wrote a hit play and directed it, so I'm not sweating it either.
  2. photos of ourselves !

Goodwill is the shit! I love sifting through their old books to use for images in my artwork. Best find so far was the VHS of Cats. That and a really sweet jumper (though technically that was at Salvation Army. shhhh don't tell)
  3. school = :(

So this isn't a rant, but it is about school. For my art before 1940 class my professor gave us a poem to write about, I never really paid it much attention till just now when I was transcribing it for a friend and read the last few lines "To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori." And of course I go super massive excited and no one understood why, but I thought you guys might. I love it when worlds collide.
  4. pictures and videos of interest...

Anyone heard of ? Its about Pat Spurgeon (drummer/multi-instrumentalist of Rogue Wave) going through dialysis while on tour. Crazy stuff.
  5. Gah! I can't take the Avatar nonsense anymore!

It seems like quite a few good movies have come out recently, or at least I've seen some recently, some could have been older. Anyway it's nice change. I've been saying the exact same thing! Pocahontas in space. I personally didn't care for the film, the story is old and formulaic, and why does the white guy always have to come in and be the "savior" or whatever? Anyway, there was no doubt this film would be successful because it was made to be...they spent as much on advertising for the film as they did actually making it. Which is no surprise considering the people backing it. But I digress, I don't think Avatar is bad, certainly the visuals are new and cool (I hesitate to say beautiful because they creeped me out at times, but there were really some stunning things going on), but I don't think its that special either. I think its going to be the kind of film people look back on and say, why did I think that was so great again?
  6. What are you listening to right now?

For me, it's been mostly Blues Traveler, with a few key selections from Sister Hazel, Third Eye Blind, and Deana Carter thrown in for good measure. Right now, I'm listening to Loveology. Its all Modest Mouse, Mountain Goats, Pinback, Pavement, Archers of Loaf, Guided By Voices, Elliot Smith, Built To Spill, Radiohead and Neutral Milk Hotel over here I think its the weather, as I've gotten older I've noticed patterns in the season and my music choices, and for some reason the 90s mean spring to me. Whoooo knows why. Or it might be because I've been watching Pete and Pete...God that show has the best intro song EVER!
  7. So which is your #1 song on Far?

Weird, I could've sworn I answered this. Well, for me my favorite new song was a tie between Riot Gear and Machine and they're so different it seems unfair to compare them. Man of 1000 is my all time favorite Reg song, but I gotta say I prefer the live version, the new recording is beautiful and I really love it with the video, but by itself the pace is a little bit too slow for me. After living with this album for months, I've found that I have a surprise liking for The Calculation. Regina's poppy songs usually take a backseat for me, but something about it is so endearing. Plus I love the imagery. So as for my ultimate favorite....uuuuhm...I'll stick with Machine if only for its Orwell references and for using a house as an instrument.
  8. Wee Rants

I swear, some science major needs to do a study on why music can sound like its a normal level when you're in the dorm with it, but to others its blaring. Needless to say, Reg has gotten me in trouble a few times too. I say screw em', does it really hurt them to get some wonderful art into their ears a few times a year? They should be thanking us!

  10. Dating & Money

I can't speak for Yaya, but I was just trying to make the point that...you know the old slogan... people are just people. Not all girls are cryptic and not all guys are straight forward. We vary and that's what makes us wonderful!
  11. Good questions for Regina

As am I, though I would like to believe in such things, the sad truth is I'm way too much of a cynic.
  12. Dating & Money

Took the words out of my mouth.
  13. Weather

Its pleasantly cool and smells like rain, yep, spring is coming!
  14. What are you listening to right now?

And to be on topic with the thread, my sis got me to watch Stardust and I really loved it, and as for Coraline...I don't really know why, but I freaking adore that movie. Maybe its the soundtrack, maybe its the tone, or maybe its the skill involved, but I have watched that movie no less than 20 times and could watch it again right now. It just brings me to a happy place.
  17. What are you listening to right now?

Shady Lane - Pavement I really love this song, even if it seems to drive all my friends crazy.
  18. photos of ourselves !

I've always wondered that myself! Another addition to the "ask Regina" thread I suppose.
  19. Dating & Money

I think paying for someone should be your choice, boy or girl, date or not. However, if you don't intend to pay for a date it's polite to let them know. That being said, I pay for my female friends all the time, and they pay for me. Just yesterday I was fighting with a friend because she wanted to treat me to dinner and I wanted to treat her. And yes, we both work and support ourselves. Basically, the whole point of paying for someone is just to show you care. And if you're dating someone and they care about you, they should understand when you aren't able to pay for them. And you certainly aren't a jackass.
  20. Favorite Albums of 2010

Yeah, I did like their self-titled album, they just wore on me after a while. Maybe I'll wait till I'm heading home for the summer to listen, a soundtrack to returning home to the ocean. And as for best albums, I'm ashamed I forgot to mention Romance Is Boring by Los Campesinos! Very good stuff.

Thank you for reminding me I need to go buy that movie! Sooooo good.
  24. Favorite Albums of 2010

Agreed about Heartland! And Joanna Newsom though I haven't heard the whole album yet, what I've heard so far has been wonderful. I really need to get over my Vampire Weekend snobbery and give this album a listen, I've heard its very good from many people.
  25. Good questions for Regina

I have a question for her that's bothered me for a while. In The Bronx, when she says "they don't even believe it exists in other places, but especially not in the Bronx." I want to know if she means the people in the Bronx don't believe magical realism exists in other places, or if she means people in other places also don't believe magical realism exists. I don't know why, but this bothers me!
