  1. RAH 2nd July

Sounds like it was an awesome show. In noticed in that Samson video that Regina was wearing in-ear monitors. Has she been using them much/long? I don't remember seeing her with IEMs before.

  3. Live Broadcast (NPR) on May 31st, 2012

quote: Originally posted by Reginaoverdose: “Fuck, fuck, fuck. Fuck! I have to get all the ‘fucks’ out before we’re on the air.” - Regina, live on the air (then they put up an advisory LOL) That's hilarious. I missed the first couple of minutes.
  4. 2012 US Tour

I'll withold judgement until I hear it, but I'm not hopeful. I tend toward raw, unadorned music played by bands on guitars, basses, pianos, and drums. Any more than one keyboard involved is usually a bad sign, IMHO. My favorite bands are old-school groups that blew the roof off the joint live: The Who, The Replacements, The Stooges, etc. (Yes, I know The Who used synthesisers occasionally, but rarely - listen to Live at Leeds if you like blistering live rock 'n' roll. And, yes, I'm kinda old.) Also,three-piece (piano, bass, drums) jazz, etc. (As to other female singer-songwriters, I think Feist and her albums are fantastic.) That's probably why I tend to prefer Regina's earlier, less-produced stuff and why I prefer when she performs with just a piano live. Awesomely talented artist, piano and occasional bass, drum, etc. is right up my alley.
  5. pictures and videos of interest...

What a real Italian celebrity from NJ looks/sounds like.
  6. Good questions for Regina

Ron Wood has said he's a fan and would like to meet you/interview you on his radio show. Has he reached out to you? Are you interested in doing something with him?
  7. Regina on Jimmy Fallon Nov.23

Dunno if it's a mistake, but on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon website it has her as guest on Tuesday AND Wednesday. Roll over the days on the weekday calendar near the bottom of the home page: no music Monday, Regina Tues and Weds, NERD Thurs, and James Otto and Ronnie Milsap Friday.

  9. Vega, Copenhagen, Denmark - July 13, 2010

What an amazing and moving performance of 'Firewood.'
  10. Vega, Copenhagen, Denmark - July 13, 2010

sweetness in my lungs, Thanks for the lovely recounting. Your actions and words of support were spot-on.
  11. Good questions for Regina

You've mentioned several times that you have stage fright. Have you ever considered beta blockers?
  12. Regina at The White House!

Still, though, KB93 has a good point. The White House has put on many multi-track/multi-instrument electronic performances before; it *is* surprising that it wasn't miked better. The most powerful country in the world should be able to scare up two mikes and a mixing board.
  13. Regina at The White House!

I didn't even think to look for a live stream. I also assumed it would be at night. Hopefully, someone captured the stream or the White House will put it up. Regarding Regina's nervousness, a lot of performers and public speakers use beta blockers, which keep your sympathetic nervous system from going into overdrive, before they perform. Since your adrenaline doesn't overwhelm you, you can concentrate on your performance and don't have the warbles/shakes that nervousness causes. From what I hear, many people find that they can take beta blockers just a few times, then they learn not to be as nervous when they perform and don't need to take beta blockers any more. If I were a friend, I would definitely float her the idea. ps Great photos, Reginaoverdose
  14. Concerts?

I've seen a bunch, my favorites/notables include: Frank Sinatra (London, 1986, epic!) The Who x3 (sans Moon, but with Enwhistle) Regina x3 (San Diego, London, Paris) U2 x2 (Joshua Tree tour was amazing) The Replacements x2 (amazing band, check 'em out) Iggy Pop x2 (one of the best live performers ever) The Grateful Dead x2 The Kinks x2 AC/DC Elvis Costello Bruce Springsteen Van Morrison Eric Clapton x2 Stevie Ray Vaughan x2 Buddy Guy x2 Pete Townshend Aimee Mann x2 Bob Dylan Muddy Waters REM James Taylor Squeeze Willie Nelson Lyle Lovett x2 Annie Lennox Rolling Stones Wilco Some I'd like to see include Feist, The Avett Brothers, The Dresden Dolls
  15. Good questions for Regina

Re-updated and re-rebumped.... (If you're worried about having something to say if you get to talk to her, print this out and bring it with you.) Thought I’d bump all the questions (minus the marry/adopt/hug me and already answered questions) up so they’re in one place. And here they are: I love Austin City Limits and was really looking forward to seeing you perform on it, but your performance was never aired. I heard you asked that it not be shown because you didn't like your performance. What's the scoop? Any plans to be on ACL again? Would you ever consider redoing some songs that are already on earlier albums, such as 11:11 or Songs? I know you have done this in the past, but would you consider it now that you have grown so much and acquired more fans? Do you speak fluent Hebrew or just have a really good accent? What are some of your favorite places in New York (since she writes about New York so much)? What's your favorite Beatles album? Is 11:11 ever coming out again? Who would you REALLY like to work with? Conan loved your performance of Fidelity on his show and was gesticulating like mad as the show played out. What was he saying? What was Pete Townshend like? (She performed "Music Box" on his/his girlfriend's 'In the Attic' show. Scroll down to episode 4.) Was someone next door really fucking to one of your songs? If so, which song!?!?!? I'd ask her why the song "begin to hope" wasn't on the [eponymous] album? What does brumstix mean ? Do you picture the "little kid" in Lucky Penny as a boy or a girl? If Regina hadn't been a singer songwriter/musician for a living, what would she have liked to have done for a career? I'd ask her about what selections she'd recommend from Russian Literature, considering that's my favourite genre. Then I'd ask for her opinion on Bulgakov, pasternak, chukovskaya, tolstoy, nabokov and Akhmatova. I know Reg doesn't like talking about the lyrics to her songs, but if she did, I'd ask her who she is talking about in Long Brown Hair. I'd want to know what annoys Regina the most... What puts her over the edge? Not sure if it'd be my first question but given "laughing with" Do you believe in God? The "far" version of One More Time With Feeling" is a LOT different than the live version that you performed several times. I can't think of another song that changed so much from live to the studio: Can you tell me the story of how OMTWF changed from the concert version to the studio version? Maybe someone already knows the answer, but, I would want to know: What was the first song you wrote? What inspired you to write it? In what way has the experience you had with that song shaped you as a songwriter? I'd ask her if she plans on a long-form symphonic/piano composition, something 9-10 minutes long. If you weren't a musician, which job would you like to have and why? Out of all the characters you have created in your songs, who is your favorite? Regina, do you have any pets? What's your secret to happiness and how do you fight off dark thoughts(sad ones)? In The Bronx, when she says "they don't even believe it exists in other places, but especially not in the Bronx." I want to know if she means the people in the Bronx don't believe magical realism exists in other places, or if she means people in other places also don't believe magical realism exists. If you could be someone else for one day (even a character from a book) who would you like to be and what would you do? What are the things you cannot live without? If you ever thought about writing a book what would the title be? Do you like puzzles or scrabble? What’s a play that you've been to that really impressed you? I really want to know the story behind her guitar…. Have you ever played Spektris? (If you've played, what is your high score?) What does she look at (or avoid looking at) on those rare occasions she opens her eyes while playing for television? I'd love to ask her if she'd be totally insulted if I gave her a copy of those lovingly made sheet music transcriptions of her songs. That way she could get the basic feeling of her old songs so she could replay them.
