  1. What are you watching right now?

"Goedemorgen Nederland" (Goodmorning to The Netherlands) a Breakfast news show
  2. What Reg songs can you play?

How cool, some of you really can play quite a few Regina songs (by heart?). I only know about half the BTH songs and didn't play them in a long time (all on guitar). Used to play Fidelity, On the Radio, Lady and Summer in the City a lot, and the Riff of That Time (it's one of the funnest guitar riffs she wrote IMO).
  3. Wee Rants

That must have been a great sermon by a great minister in an awesome church building. Or did he go frequently for some reason? Maybe his Aitheïsm was merely a lack of interest in religion, rather than a conviction and the experience peaked his interest in a major way, it could have been that exiciting... Or he feels he found something he didn't know he was looking for. It's sad he changed (IYO). Maybe his current piety is a phase, just like some people are obsessed with Regina's music at first, and later ease up and move on, keeping Reg's Records as steady favorites rather than the main thing in their lives. it's okay to rant about it imo, I'd be a bit worried if some of my friends became fervently religious too.
  4. misheard lyrics

It's even easier to mishear lyrics in a foreign language... Oh how I mangled Michael Jackson Lyrics when I was a 5 years old!
  5. Who will save music? One guess...

Off-topic: ...can't... resist... must...post... reply... on... brumstix... rants... forum... again Musiclover, you're spot-on. It's a blatant generalisation that male musicians are all about pecking orders and fancy gear and music is not and was never in need of saving... though, half a decade ago I found The Strokes and White Stripes did just that (for the Mtv Generation, which is actually a rather small demographic) Yes, Regina is a fresh breath of air and a very inspiring artist (who stands out in a crowd of semi-copycat pianogirls), but music's saviour? It's not music that needs saving... ... It's the audience
  6. Profanity/Vulgarity

Believe it or not, in High School I actually learned French swear words from the class material/books! Every chapter had this list of "informal language"... Since that time I avoid "danku" (thank you in Dutch) while in France as it sounds the same as "Dans Cul" (in the ass)...
  7. Wee Rants

"And everyone who sees it says eeeew!" :s
  8. Dance Anthem old version vs Far

She can write but she can't edit? Maybe she didn't like it or write it at the time. It happens to me, that I write a song play it a few times (or lots) and at a certain point discover something's missing (or someone tells me and I agree). Maybe it's also something to make the video/single special, an extra feature to make it stand out from the track you've already heard on the album. It's a rather nice idea.
  9. hi again :P

quote: Originally posted by andreseng: Yo Beechie. Good to see you back. Yes, give "far" a spin, I'm sure you'll like it. Still making your own music? sure I do, I would go crazy if I didn't. It's a little of a sabbatical year though, I need to develop skills in music besides singing and playing guitar (like, organization).
  10. I hate the "instant gratification" of the media

Maybe it's also the popularity of Soaps? For a verbal-heavy product it features quite a few cuts. If our culture has ADD (referring to a previous post), hm... there's multiple types... One ADD includes hyper-concentration/focus (possibly a few hours long) and a "crash" afterward: restlessness, craving for coffee or other "relaxant", appearing absent-minded (daydreaming) or losing all interest in the subject focused on. and that's just one symptom. Perfectionism, Awesome memory/knowledge on a few select subjects, not finishing what you start, all examples for symptoms of ADD. Good artists often have this disorder. Maybe that does make our culture ADD in the broader sense of the metaphor, because culture and ADD are heterogeneous... @ SgtCampsalot: Your quote and your interpratation of it implicitly exclude all artists who do designing jobs and a lot of historic/classic painters, composers and sculptors. I mean, Michael Angelo, Rembrant, Vermeer, Rubens, Leonardo DaVinci, Pieter Breughel, Mozart etc. made most of their works for paying customers. And their work is generally considered to be Art. The famous Night Watch was requested by the captain of the portrayed city-guard company, the Sistine Chapel commissioned by the Pope, Shakespeare wrote for a Theatre Company etc. Not art? But then, it was said by an artist probably -the quote appears familiar- and it's just his opinion which anyone can agree or disagree with. The mass of persons involved should not matter too, teamwork is natural to man, it should be part of and be reflected in our cultural outings. It all comes down to Viewer's Discretion advised for the eye of the beholder.
  11. How much of a Regina fan are you??

And every fan to his own idea is true What is it a fan should really try to do What's the measure of a fan? It is probably different for everyone Say you are and you are? Or do you need other people to tell you? maybe Tv-tropes has the answer, Tv-Tropes has ALL the answers!
  12. hi again :P

It's nice to see how much the stix and stixers have grown over the 6 or so months I didn't check it. New winds blow, old winds have changed. @ wonder bread: And thanks for asking Life's good, as far as it can be for a telemarketeer, not for a musician though (Maybe I'm just lazy). That's why I came back, when I checked the Stix I had way more inspiration and drive for music. It always got my mind going. truth be told, replying to your topics was one of my dirty pleasures
  13. Me being a male and REgina...please respond.

Hello fellow man. I got introduced to Regina by one of my friends, also a man. I got into the music first, and the "wow, she's gorgeous" came second. It surprises me that there are men who like her just for the looks, to me she's not that kind of artist. and I agree with you, wonder bread, It held me back in the past, my record collection contains only 5 full albums by female artists, that's about 2%
  14. hi again :P

Hello again Stxerz. how have you been? I have been off the boards for a long time now, partly by design. probably mild ADD too... there was just so much I had to say/know about the Regination before other things caught my ear/eye. and... I decided to stop my forumfrenzy at the convenient level of no forums at all and that means a new album comes as a pleasant surprise I have yet to get it, but the little video at the website here set my mood for today and my mood rhymes with Jay! (oookay...)
