    @ Tim: That ain't soup! it's porridge!
  2. Best brand of instant ramen?

I'd say "Yumyum" 's the best, what's in a name ey?
  3. language nerds !!!!

Do some here also speak a dialect? In the Netherlands there's a great variety of different dialects, about 10 dialects in a country hardly the size of the smallest US state... Dutch is the common language composed of those dialects from various regions (for all regions in the kingdom to have a common language). Oh and there's Frisian (northern Netherlands) which has been spoken even before the time of the ancient Romans! Any Frisian speakers too?
  4. Regina Demographics

I'm 23... and I think i can say I'm one of very few people in the Netherlands who has (heard) the latest album. I know only 2 other people in my country of who I can say for sure they know Regina... and only one I know as a friend, the other is a Singer/songwriter (female) called Roosbeef (pronounce: Rosebave) who does a few covers of Regina songs.
  5. language nerds !!!!

Well, there's one mamal who has the same vocal range as humans: the gelada baboon, which is quite funny... they don't have words as we know them but are actually the only monkey who communicate EVERYTHING with their 'voice' instead of just the territorial and mating stuff. There's a real sense of talking with these creatures even chimps don't have...
  6. Keane Fan Rudeness

It's shocking how most people are rude to the support-act at almost any show by a band that has broken into the mainstream. Example: I've been to some Red Hot Chili Peppers gigs (that's stadiumstuff) and only one of 3 support-acts was received with a positive attitude: The Roots. Frank Black and the Chicks on Speed where thrown stuff at and booed their entire sets... even my friends, which I consider quite open-minded people when it comes to music show disrespect to support-acts. I find it disappointing. I can't understand people's impatience and close-mindedness at concerts, it fills me with a sense of contempt as deep as the grand canyon.
  7. EXACTLY how i feel about regina..

It's strange the way I feel about Regina Spektor. It's not a really fan-type kind of admiration, it's on the creative level (all aspects thereof) that I feel a conncetion... and well, I get both depressed (from feeling inadequate) and happy (the joy of music) when I hear her sing. It's like I've know this music all my life while I never heard it until just three weeks ago... I even think that I sometimes by accident sing songs she's writing at the moment about 10.000 miles away... (I have a strange sense of déja vu when listening to Lady and Summer in the City)

Besides, the Gospels are grandiosely manipulated by the Byzantine Emperors.
  9. More about soup

There is more about soup than might be know in the states... In Belgium Comedian Wim Helsen had a show called "Heden Soup" (today soup) in which he portrayed this strange fella who made vegetable soup with letter vermicelli... which was said to contain a special message. Then he would go to a busstop to offer this soup to women who wait at busstops and while all women would run off scared, this soupfella was convinced that his dreamwoman would one day drink his special letter soup and understand his secret soup message... Furthermore, a German living in Amsterdam called Sebastian Camper recently made a cd/book about soup. various souprecepies are featured and have their very own soundtrack which can be played when you make the soup! Oh and in Holland they eat greenpeasoup which they call snert cause it is actually more of a porrige with pieces of carrot and meat.

  11. I live with some great musicians...

A living dream becomes a Nightmare when you lose control
  12. remeber when i would only smoke parliments...

Well, even if she had never lighted a single cigarette, she could/would have written those lines featuring smokeys anyway. There's no denying that people do smoke and so smoking might also be featured in cultural outlets... strange though, A smoking singer/songwriter (yeah that's bad!) myself, I never write about cigarettes and stuff.
  13. my dream about regina!

hey Funny, thursday night I dreamed I saw a brand new music video of Regina Spektor... and I checked, none of the featured video's on this site match... it was like a mix between "better" and Fidelity, but I also dreamed my brother turned off the television... stoopid fella. so well, maybe it was the result of your hardwork in the world of dreams?
  14. how did you get into regina?

It was late at night and I was watching the telly and just switching channels for about 15 minutes just hoping to catch something remotely interesting until I was tired enough to sleep. Then I hit Mtv where i saw a really cute girl singing like she knew me... Fidelity it was and gosh, that Chorus... And it sounded really familiar in a way. (oh and in the comercial break Soviet Kitch was used for a Dutch telecom ad.!)
  15. language nerds !!!!

I'm from the Netherlands (living there still) so my first Language is Dutch. In the Netherlands at least one second language is compulsory at most schools so I learned English as second language when I was 10 years old or so. Whenever I had a school assignment for English I at least tried tried to think in the other language and I must say that nowadays I frequently think in English (just out of the blue)... maybe it's all those English records I hear and Shakespeare stuff I read . Needless to say, I had high marks in most language classes and feel I can speak and write English without much problems.
