  1. Let's go to the Movies...

If you're already a Coen Brothers fan, then there's no reason why you will not like Burn After Reading. I also saw this new movie called Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist yesterday. I'll just shamelessly copy and paste what I wrote on another forum, since I'm unoriginal like that: It's kind of amusing that my friend and I were making a list of all the "indie" comedy clichés before this film started. We came up with about 7 or 8, all of which are featured in Nick and Norah (this is in no way related to the Myrna Loy/William Powell Thin Man films of the 30s and 40s. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed.) I guess this one's alright if you're into those movies with titles in a hand-written font, quirky characters, lots of pop-culture references ("cultural masturbation," I've labeled it. Please, use it up!), and a prominent 20+ year-old car...but it's no Juno. 4/10

I can't believe that I've yet to see any discussion about Tarsem's The Fall around these parts. It was finally released on DVD last week, and I strongly urge all of you to pick it up ASAP. It's easily the best new film I've seen this year, and probably already one of my all time favorites. But if I can't convince you to watch it,
  3. What are you listening to right now?

I've really been hooked on an album called Deathconsciousness by Have A Nice Life. It's pretty much all I've been listening to for the past couple of days. I'm just really bummed that they only made 200 copies of it, all of which were sold by early last month, making my chances of owning a physical copy slim to none.
  4. What are you listening to right now?

Flood Part IV by Boris I can't fucking wait to see them live this Thursday.

Its a painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder called "Netherlandish Proverbs." If you look closely you can see a woman in red leading a cloaked woman in blue, that's supposed to be the blind leading the blind. There are other examples too but a lot are more obscure and I can't think of them off the top of my head. Yeah, there was actually an article about Fleet Foxes on Drowned in Sound last week, and it had a quote from Robin Pecknold about the album cover. You can read it here.
  11. New music we should all hear

Lately, I've been recommending that people check out Rest by Gregor Samsa. It's my favorite album of the year so far, and if you're into post-rock/shoegaze, then you'll probably enjoy it.
  12. Is anyone else into heavier music?

Thanks to Andre and Stepped on a Syringe for their responses. It's good to know that I'm not listening to too much heavy music -- I don't know if my back is strong enough to support Between the Buried and Me and the like.

  14. Is anyone else into heavier music?

Eh...to be honest, I really don't know, as "heavy" seems to be kind of subjective. I do listen to a bit of metal now and then - mostly post/doom/sludge - if that's what you're talking about. I dunno, I guess I need one of you Stixers to check my Last.fm, and let me know if it's considered "heavy" by Regina standards.
