  1. Regina Song Showdown!

Looks like Carbon Monoxide is having a winning streak...Let's give it a real challenge: Carbon Monoxide vs. Apres Moi
  2. what is your favourite clip of regina?

This video of her performing "Hallelujah" live is undoubtedly the most emotionally intense performance of any artist I have ever seen. And the cameraman did a great job of doing multiple close-ups on her face too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ_lD8v7Vdc
  3. Alex Heffes ft. Regina "Balloon Girl"

"Balloon Girl" was used in this Audi commercial. Pretty cool
  4. Hi, I'm new here, so I don't know if it is appropriate to talk about this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDp_GY_keQA&ob=av2e "Rotten Love" - James Levy Is the regina in the song the Regina we know? Did Regina break someone's heart? I heard that this song is about something of a love triangle between Julian Casablancas, Regina and James Levy... I feel like I'm treading on some dark past here..Please tell me I'm wrong.
  5. Mental Images during songs.

Ah, while most of you visualise winter/snow/generally cold stuff in Open, I have the same mental image whenever i listen to 'Lounge'. I always have mental images when listening to Regina's songs, but for some reason 'Lounge' produces the most vivid images. It was as if I was transported into the beautiful winter world (although i live in a tropical country and haven't experienced winter yet) created by Regina's majestic piano melody. Anyone here felt the same about Lounge?
  6. Regina Song Showdown!

Definitely Sunshine. I love the beginning of Flyin',but the end is just...creepy. Sunshine vs. A Cannon
  7. Er....anyone checked Regina on IMDB lately? She is listed as Yelena Belova/Black Widow of Iron Man 3. Er...is this true? Looks kinda far-fetched to me (of course if its true that would be beyond awesome) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1258550/#Actress
  8. Regina on Iron Man 3 as Black Widow??!! (IMDB)

Er...I posted on the wrong place, did I? Terribly sorry for the mistake. I'm just too overwhelmed by the news.

  10. Unknown song from 2001?

I stumbled into this very old video where Renate Hug performs to Regina's music. The first song was obviously "Love Affair", but what about the second? Anyone heard of it? The lyrics were something like this: Some people know to walk on water and others have to learn how to swim and others have to learn how to drown ‘cause eternal life is a drag
  11. What are you listening to right now?

A timeless piece......one of the most hauntingly beautiful love songs out there
  12. "Rotten Love" - Breakup song about Regina?

Hey, now that you mention it, do you think maybe, just maybe, that "The Party" is a response to that song? Nah, don't mind me, just the crazy talking.
  13. This is probably a very stupid question...

Returning to the thread's question, the last article at the very end of The Survival Guide to Soviet Kitsch told us a lot about Regina's connection with soup. quote: I'm a huge soup fan, yeah, I've a full blown commitment to soup -Regina Spektor Here's part of the article: "During my teenage years I rebelled against soup," she revealed, "and now, when I think about it, I wish someone had told me to enjoy it. But I would come home and be like,'No, not soup again! I want pizza and hot dogs! That's what my American friends eat for dinner! I want take out Chinese food!' And my mom, who had cooked anything from scratch, would wonder, 'What, what's happening to my child?' " She even acknowledged this section of the forum: "And the soup recipes people post up on your website, have you ever made any of them?" the interviewer asked in an innocently playful and not at all devil's advocate manner. "You know what? Yeah, I made, I made..." she stumbled "You're lying, aren't you?" he challenged. "Yes I am!" Regina Spektor then laughed into disintegration. "But I feel like I made it because just yesterday my upstairs neighbor and I were talking about making something... Fuck you! That's it! I'm storming out!" So adorable. But this means she knows that this section exists, and I think we should keep adding more recipes just to keep it alive.
  14. "Rotten Love" - Breakup song about Regina?

Well, I suppose that everyone makes mistakes. We're only human, after all.

  16. It seems that I'm the only Malaysian here! Living proof that Regina's music spreads far and wide. (Pardon my poor English. English is not my mother tongue) Stats Name or nickname:Choo Sum Lee. It's a translated version of my chinese name,李柱声. Age:17 Gender:Male Relationship status: Single Location: Malaysia. For those who had never heard of the country, it's just below Thailand, and right above Singapore. In fact, Singapore was once a part of Malaysia. Someday I hope my writing can be half as good as native English speakers) Interests: science, life, words, regina spektor Favorite Things Foods: Fish ( no other seafood, just fish) Color: Indigo Books: A Series of Unfortunate Events by Daniel Handler (aka. Radiohead, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Tom Waits, The Strokes, Beirut, Hans Zimmer, The Fray, and everything else that touches the soul. (None of my friends listen to any of these true artists. Can't blame them. Our very own English radio is tarnishing their minds with Katy Perry, LMFAO, Nikki Minaj......UGH!!YUCK!! Can you imagine how hard it is to be the only one who appreciates good music? Oh, how i wish that someday, someone will hear me humming and say, "Hey, you listen to Regina Spektor? I love Regina!" Misc Origin or meaning of your Username: Just took it from my full name. First time you heard Regina: My sister introduced me to "The Ghost of Corporate Future" 2 years ago. I loved the lyrics, but her unique style put me off. I started checking her songs out, until i stumbled upon "Genius Next Door"...and cried. It was so hauntingly beautiful...the first time music moved me to tears. Since then I fell deeply in love with her. I started including Regina's songs in my MP3 and deleting everything else because nothing else is as good as her. So for a long period of time, my playlist consisted of only one artist, Regina Spektor. Top 5 Regina Spektor songs:I know about 83 of her songs, and loved each and every one, so it is quite hard for me to pick favorites. Anyways, here goes: Loveology Just Like The Movies Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) Genius Next Door Somedays Who/What inspires you: Regina Spektor, Anne Frank, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, The Baudelaires Looking forward to this year: What We Saw From The Cheap Seats
