  1. Regina never forgot about Loveology! From her recent reddit AMA:
  2. Remember Us To Life (Album Coming Sep 30, 2016)

I personally think that this is Regina's most 'cinematic' album to date (which may have been a result of her involvement in Beauty), if that makes sense. Especially "Sellers of Flowers", such vivid and affecting imagery! Definitely my favorite track by far.
  3. Regina is everywhere

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but Regina got together with Ben Folds to sing the super fun "You Don't Know Me" three days ago. Here's a video: Gosh, look at that smile!
  4. Saw a person mention this in the comments of one of her Facebook posts. From the facebook page of the awards: "Regina Spektor was chosen by the Advisory Board as one of the finalists for the Performer of the Year Award. Ms. Spektor is a renowned Russian born American singer, songwriter, and pianist. Her family moved to the United States from Moscow when she was nine years old. In 2004 Ms. Spektor's song "You've Got Time," made widely popular as the theme to the Netflix Original Series Orange Is the New Black, was nominated for a Grammy in the category of "Best Song Written For Visual Media." Ms. Spektor also performed at the benefit concert for HIAS, an organization committed to the protection of refugees." Vote here or through Facebook Russian American Person of The Year Facebook Page

For me it was 'and come back a wild stranger'. Utterly enthralled by the lyrics of both songs. For "stay", anyone catch the line between 'this whole world, it makes me carsick' and 'you have a heart, why don't you use it' ?
  6. Statues of Us

That was spellbinding! I'm sure Regina will be delighted if she ever watches this. I remember her saying how she loves synchronised performances like this when she expressed her fondness for the music video of Feist's '1234'. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Other good music

Anyone here a fan of Julia Holter ? Her album 'Loud City Song' is otherworldly. I've been looking and looking and looking for this kind of ethereal, spectral and hypnotic music ever since I've listened to 'Lounge' and 'Just Like The Movies' for the first time . I can't believe it took me so long to find out about her.
  8. Lady

I agree. It's really quite astounding how close Regina sounds like Billie Holiday in this song. I listen to 'Lady' right after Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit' all the time just to marvel at the similarities and connections between the two. I also absolutely loved the part in the end here Regina stops singing and the music kicks in. The piano and the saxophone sounded like they were battling each other for attention while unknowingly merging into one hauntingly beautiful composition.
  9. With Adele's "Skyfall" squeezed in the same category, I guess Regina's chances of winning are pretty slim. Not that I care that much about the Grammy's anyways. Still, it's great for her to be recognized and that itself is a cause for celebration. Alleluia !
  10. New Song - Blood Of Eden

Thank you, Shane D. ! That was exactly what I meant. I wholeheartedly agree. I actually liked Far better than WWSFTCS. It was my first sample of Regina's music. The lost wallet, the hearts of stone which sparked, The Human of The Year, I will never get tired of these modern fairy tales no matter how much I listen to the songs. When I first saw the tracklist of WWSFTCS I knew at once that only 'Jessica', 'How' and 'The Party' are new, and got myself very excited about new poignant, heartwarming worlds and stories that only Regina could create. I guess that was where my disappointment of WWSFTCS came from. Daniel Cowman, Marry Ann, Karl Projectorinski, I missed these characters, these reflections of our vast and ever-changing human nature, so much. Most of all, I miss Reginapolis. And I hope, no, I know Regina will bring us back there one day. On a different and much lighter note, kudos to the other artists who worked on the album ! They all did a smashing job of their covers. I especially liked Feist and Timber Timbre's rendition of 'Don't Give Up'
  11. New Song - Blood Of Eden

I agree with Shane D. and sweetness . This song is pretty enough to like but too safe for me to fall in love with. And although it breaks my heart to admit it, I felt the same with 'You've Got Time' and WWSFTCS. Don't get me wrong, I still love Regina's music to the point of heartache. Perhaps this snippet of a Far review from Popmatters put it more aptly : But as she gets more widely known, more popular, Regina Spektor will paradoxically have to work harder to maintain that persona she’s built up over the past eight years. The old fans want that feeling of discovery again, the new ones can have their sweet melodies. It’s not as if Spektor’s lost it all, though—truth is, she doesn’t have to do too much. Just say in that childlike voice, “Hello, hello, calling a Karl Projectorinski to the front " I am a late bloomer to Regina's music ( post - Far ) , so I might be totally wrong here, but I feel the entrancing quality in her past songs are harder to find in her recent songs. It was as if her personality is being overshadowed by the lush productions of her recent releases. I still remember the feeling of utter serenity and bliss when I first heard "Lounge" and "Just Like The Movies", and I hope (oh god how I hope!) to rediscover that feeling again in her future releases.
  12. Regina is everywhere

" It kind of felt to me like, if somebody is really oppressed and trapped, you still have this ability to internally feel free and let your mind stay free and get excited, have fun and get swept up. You know? And so, I sort of think that was a big part of the song." Wow ! That was the first time I've seen her describe any of her songs to anybody ! I thought discussions of concepts and ideas of her art is a definite no-go zone for her? Not that I'm complaining, though.
  13. *NEW SONG* You've Got TIme

I was disconnected from the internet for a week up until now. (intentionally. I was reading Allen Ginsberg's "Deliberate Prose" and the way he kept going on about how our minds are conditioned by mass media really depresses me) When my sister told me about this new song during dinner, I literally choked on my food. And then I went and broke every mental vow I made the last week about reducing my dependency on the internet. Bloody great song, by the way. Sorry, Mr. Ginsberg.
  14. Not sure if this is the place to post this, but anyways : Was anyone there? I'd die for a recording of the film tribute, even if it's just a small part...
  15. Regina rocks Jumpin' Jack Flash!

I think the link Jack tweeted has a better quality. Great find by the way, robertaxel!
  16. Truck Fest 2006 Live - 3 days left to listen

Absolutely phenomenal. I miss Regina messing around. She's so professional nowadays.
  17. Other good music

Ezra Furman & The Harpoons - The Worm In The Apple I just watched the documentary "Louder Than A Bomb" (Great documentary by the way, everyone who likes poetry should check it out) and this song came out and I absolutely love the lyrics: "While all the world makes money so stoically I will be building my home out of poetry Scraps of old volumes, wire and glue Will be something, though feeble, its all I can do"
  18. Oops! Google Chrome could not find

Damn...This news tore away a part of my soul. I think you can still find most of the recordings here : But still....Damn.
  19. I stumbled upon this and I think it's supposed to be funny but it turned out really weird and a bit creepy...Did Regina and Jack write those? MAD LIBS with Regina Spektor New Year's Resolutions
  20. Alex Heffes ft. Regina "Balloon Girl"

OMG I totally missed the connection between this and the other leaks. I don't even have the other leaks, and didn't ask for any of it because of her post on Facebook. Now that I have deleted my copy of the demo I feel somewhat better. Thanks for the heads up, sweetness
  21. Alex Heffes ft. Regina "Balloon Girl"

kaoir, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you one in a jiffy.
  22. Alex Heffes ft. Regina "Balloon Girl"

The one with some jingle bells at the beginning? The one named "Untitled Demo" on Youtube? It was taken down? Damn. Good thing I grabbed it as soon as it came out. Funny thing is, it is through the comments on that video that I learned about Balloon Girl and Birdsong. I still think that Birdsong is by far the best of the three. The song felt like a manifestation of hope itself, and you can always count on it to pull you out from the pits of depression.
  23. I stumbled into this very old video where Renate Hug performs to Regina's music. The first song was obviously "Love Affair", but what about the second? Anyone heard of it? The lyrics were something like this: Some people know to walk on water and others have to learn how to swim and others have to learn how to drown ‘cause eternal life is a drag
  24. Artists you'd like to see Reg play with...

Wow, this thread has been dormant for more than four years. I was about to open a new thread named "Dream Collaborations" but I found this instead. Anyhow, my dream is for Regina to co-write a song with legendary songwriters Tom Waits or Leonard Cohen to create an epic lyrical masterpiece that is so deep that only a gifted few can understand it !!! Aaaahhhh......Just thinking about it made me want to drool all over my laptop. If I recall correctly, there was an interview that went like this... Interviewer: Name one artist that you would love to collaborate with... Regina: Tom Waits.....Tom Waits,Tom Waits, Tom Waits ! Or maybe I was just dreaming out loud?
  25. Unknown song from 2001?

*GASP* A LIVE RECORDING OF 2.99 CENT BLUES !!!!! I was about to comment on Renate Hug's channel and ask her to put up the entire performance, but someone beat me to it. Oh well.
