Raugust 1 Report post Posted December 27, 2006 I was wondering if y'all would be interested in rating, on a simple 1-5 scale, how much you like or dislike various Regina songs. You can do as many or as few as you want, but I think it'd be really interesting to see where people's opinions tend to diverge and converge, plus it'd give us our first comprehensive idea of which songs are the "community favorites". The scale is: 5 - Favorite. "It's one of my favorites ever!" 4 - Great. "I love it!" 3 - Good. "I like it a lot." 2 - Fair. "It's pretty good." 1 - Mediocre. "Eh, I don't especially care for it." 0 - Poor. "I hate it." I made this poll because I wanted to get a more thorough and nuanced understanding of Regina fans' relative opinions on Regina's songs. I've found that most Regina fans have trouble choosing just one "favorite"--myself included. A system like this would allow for more flexibility than most "favorite" polls, allowing people to choose how they distribute various songs--for example, one person might have just one song rated "5", while another might have 30 songs rated "5". We've had lots of polls on people's favorite Regina songs, but I've never seen a poll for people's least favorite ones. This will simultaneously fulfill both roles: it will tell us what songs tend to average at "1", at "3", at "5", etc. It will tell us if most people agree on a certain song's rating (be it low or high), or whether a certain song is a "love it or hate it" one that sharply splits people's opinions. It will tell us what songs people tend to like in groups (e.g., "if you like Apres Moi, you'll probably like Pound of Flesh", or the like), giving us a good method to recommend certain songs to new listeners who have only heard a few Regina songs and just need one more "push" to become fans. And, if people want to give a little personal info about themselves, we will also be able to identify what songs different groups of fans tend to like: whether teenaged fans or middle-aged ones gravitate towards certain songs, whether there's a male/female divide, whether newer fans tend to like certain songs more or less than older ones, etc. You can give as much or as little personal info as you wish to; I may remove this option if people aren't interested in the extra work, or encourage everyone to do it if people agree that it would be very interesting: - What's your date of birth? - When did you become a Regina fan? - What are your favorite musicians and/or music genres and/or albums? - What's your gender and/or sexual orientation? - Where do you live and/or where are you from? - On a scale of 1 to 10, how obsessed/in love with Regina's music are you? - Anything else of note you'd like to say about yourself, such as interests and hobbies, religion and politics, ... To help people remember which songs they can choose from, here is a list of all the Regina songs known to have available recordings. You can rate as many or as few of them as you wish. If you want, you can also give different ratings to different versions of certain songs--for example, you can opt to give distinct ratings for the Begin to Hope "Samson" vs. the Songs "Samson", or for a live version of a song vs. a studio-recorded one.
