Persepolis looks absolutely amazing. It's about a young girl, Marjane Satrapi, growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. She wrote, directed, and animated it. It's a black and white animated film in french..with subtitles. And it's up for an academy award. Iranians are so stereotyped..i hope this is successful in making some difference.

I saw an interview with her on the today show earlier this week....seems interesting.

I want to see Persepolis really badly, but tonight I opted to see Be Kind Rewind instead (more roommate friendly...although she still hated it. sigh). It was heartwarming and hilarious, and of course had the usual Michel Gondry quirks that make his movies so special. Smiler Not an Eternal Sunshine, but definitely worth a watch.

Yup! I didn't fully get it when I saw it, but I eventually did. At the start, you don't know it, and neither does he, but he has just travelled back in time. It creates this kind of alternate universe, which falls apart a bit, as either the traveller or the universe has to be destroyed/die. And when he goes back in time at the end he sets it right, by staying in his room and getting crushed by the aeroplane engine, which is evidence of him travelling back in time.

In the director's cut of the movie, there are moments when you see the pages of that book written by Grandma Death (her name escapes me at the minute) and it explains the ins and outs of time travel in the movie.

Here are two links to explanations of it. It's a lot of reading, but you'll eventually understand.

(Just to give my 2.99 cents, I love Donnie Darko Smiler)

As my computer broke down the other day, I wandered into Hailsham Library to use their internet facilities, then spotted that they had the DVD "Girl With A Pearl Earring" for loan, so at long last I have watched this sumptuous, sensuous Movie with Scarlett Johannson in the starring role.! Roll Eyes

I hear that Scarlett is about to release an album and just listened to her singing "Summertime" which wasn't bad, go here Scarlett's Summertime Smiler
