Matzo Balls

i love matza balls! they are one of my favorite parts of passover... this year i almost scheduled a gig for the night of the second Seder... caught it in time, that just don't work for a jew girl lik me.... i eat veggie soup, but it rocks anywhichway....... thanks!

I used to work at a huge Jewish Deli in San Francisco. The chefs there made the best matzo ball soup. I got hooked for life.

I like when the balls are made with chicken fat rather than vegetable oil. A great chicken stock is key as well.

No, I have never been there. I just Googled it and it looks great. I love ruebens and rare roast beef sandwiches. That pic of their deli case makes me hungry.

Matzo balls (or kineidlach) are super-awesome.

The trick is to add a teensy bit of soda (really! any kind works) to make them fluffy.

Also, kreplach, which are essentially dumpling-type things are good.

Hehe, Regina and I could have a whole conversation about traditional Jewish thingies...
