i like wonder bread

a place to ask questions about reg lyrics.

This a probably a really stupid question, but it's been bugging me that I just don't get what's so funny. When she sings mermaid, everyone laughs about this:

I have sold my voice

for a bottle of gin

cause I can't swim

and I sure don't want to float

WHY?

that's ALWAYS what i thought. she is having such a good time in all of these foreign places with the people that she loves and she's so carried away with it that she doesn't care to go back home at the time. it doesn't mean that she doesn't love ny (b/c it's quite the opposite, actually) but it's kinda like when you go on vacation....and you're sooooo loving the atmosphere that you're in that you 'never wanna go home'...but, of course, you love where you're from at the same time.

but she says it cute and in a higher tone

....i would have laughed if i had been there

just b/c

i think people laugh

just...because.

they just....

laugh b/c they're having a good time

and...

idk? i do it all the time.

laugh at stuff that's not funny. ha.
