So glad someone recorded this! I accidentally fell asleep. Roll Eyes

She's not in the new pornographers, she just sang backup vocals on AC Newman's Get Guilty. And, she has been singing with him at a bunch of shows on his tour (not cleveland, of course... Roll Eyes). Just keeping busy I suppose. She also sang with Jim James/My Morning Jacket on New Year's Eve.

Nicole and the Black Sea rocked Cleveland again tonight. The audience was only about 30 people, which made me kinda sad. But let us remember, east cleveland is scary SCARY, and your car will be eaten by about 10,000 potholes on the way there. Still, no excuses here, wouldn't've missed it for all the tea in China. Plus, the people who were there were quite attentive- apparently unnervingly so since she commented on it and requested that we talk during the set. heh

Nicole was wonderful despite being kinda sick, the band was different than the sea, but nontheless good backers. The new songs are really starting to evolve. You guys can look forward to a crapload of vids soon. I recorded the entire show. Plus, Nicole gave the ok to post the vids from March. These gems have been waiting over 7 months and so have you, so I appreciate your patience and understanding. I'm unleashing them as fast as they will upload.

Mainly, the real point of this post is to inform everyone that Nicole is doing a radio show on WYEP tomorrow (10/27) at 1pm EST. You can listen live HERE. Do it!

You guys know I enjoy talking to myself here, but I'm excited to share and also freaking happy about my school's insanely fast uploading capabilities.

Behold! Last night's show-

Kill the Headlights

War Torn

Maybe Tonight

Civil War

Make You Mine <-----New Song

Hotel Plaster (sounds a lot different than when I first heard it, but still awesome!)

You Come To Me <----New Song

Cry Cry Cry

The Way It Is

The Tower (the ending of this song is incredible.)

Neptune City

This is definitely the first Nicole show I've attended that she did not do a cover. aw. But the new stuff was great! Nicole is just so distinctive, her sound, her whole being. I love that about her.

Good pics were nearly impossible to take. It was super dark and I refuse to flash into someone's face (esp when I'm like 3 feet away!). So here's the best I have.

^wasn't even gonna bug her for a pic, but some guy offered so...why say no?

Also, she said she's recording the new album in January. We should have it by June 2010 (that feels like forever...). She's working on what she called a "side project" featuring new songs that didn't quite go with the new record. Not sure when we might be seeing that.

PS- SOMEONE better go to the RYMAN SHOW and RECORD the Encore. Two birds on a wire told me it's gonna be special.

Winter 2009 Stuff

DC9- March 18, 2009:

When Darkness Falls so Quiet *I might be wrong, but I don't see this one anywhere else on youtube.

Hotel Plaster

Civil War (pants?!)

Running in Place

Sonar, Baltimore- March 19, 2009:

Skywriters

Call Me the Witch (Go Stephen Crane! Love this one.)

Hotel Plaster

Cry Cry Cry

The Tower

Crying (cover)

She's so awesome! I wanted to go see her at one of her shows, but alas the two I could go to are 21+! Damn my age! She's really freaking good and it's awesome you got a pic with her. Big Grin

Neptune City has been one of my favorite albums lately.

I'm just so curious why the change in personnel. I really liked "The Sea". Those guys were so good.

Can you compare the two now that you have a couple of shows under your belt?

Thanks so much for taking the time to do all this Jaime. I really do appreciate it...

Man I forgot how good those videos from the March shows were.

I have tickets for the DC show and the Stone Pony show on this tour. George, are you going to the Stone Pony again?
