The Hives and regina connection

Recommended Posts

I was riding in the car with a friend to Atlanta, listening to The Hives new CD, The Black and White Album. A song called "Try it again" came on. Soon i heard the word Pavlov....instantly i just thought of regina (obviously), but shrugged it off because this topic was not only reg related...then i heard Samson and Delilah. I thought, "wow two in one song, that's pretty cool i guess"

then i heard the too familiar lyrics...

"They say the definition of madness is doing the

same thing and expecting a different result"

Now as we all know in reg's song "i cut off my hair" she says,

"The definition of a crazy person is someone that does the same things over and over again while expecting new results"

isn't that ironic? hehehe

The whole lyrics for "Try it again"

Doo wacko!

Here is to you honey

But I'm out of your league

Never gonna pass me

'Cause I'm out of your league, your league,

your league

Lookie here baby

Your're coming my way

But I move like a landslide

So get out of my way and stay away

Up from the floor on the count of ten

Oh you get up, you get down and you try it again

Up and down and around again Oh you get up,

you get down and you try it again

Up and down and around again Oh you get up,

you get down and you try it again Oh you get

up, you get down and you try it again

All right! Oh Oh Oh

Time to learn a lesson

Like Pavlov's dog

If same-ing isn't working

Why don't you different instead, instead, instead

Like Samson and Delilah

Attila and the Hunns

You're ready for a new round

Don't it look like it's gonna be fun, be fun

Up from the floor on the count of ten

Oh you get up, you get down and you try it again

Up and down and around again Oh you get up,

you get down and you try it again

Up and down and around again Oh you get up,

you get down and you try it again Oh you get

up, you get down and you try it again

They say the definition of madness is doing the

same thing and expecting a different result...

That's right!

Doo wacko! - Up and down

Doo wacko! - Down and up

Doo wacko! - Round for round

Doo wacko! - Hit the ground

Doo wacko! - Up and down

Doo wacko! - Ah you get up, you get down and

you try it again

Down and up - Doo wacko! - Ah you get up, you

get down and you try it again

Round for round - Doo wacko! - Ah you get up,

you get down and you try it again

Hit the ground - Doo wacko!

Ah you get up, you get down and you try it

again (4x)

btw, The Hives are great

i don't think its a coincidence at all. its almost pisses me off that someone"borrowed" her amazing lyrical style.

on the other hand...there are only so many combinations of words.

Cute! The Eddie Izzard fans on here should check out his bit about Pavlov's cats...

As for the Hives song, I think it's totally unrelated and coincidental. Even if they are referencing Reg songs, I would be more bothered by the fact that their lyrics are 'blah' and unworthy of Reg-association, than I would be by the fact that they are thieving.

It is a neat coincidence though!

I don't think it's a ripoff at all. People have been using that expression (or some form of it) for ages.
