I try not to overanalyze, but every time I hear "Long Brown Hair," I think of the Holocaust (not just because Regina is Jewish). It seems to kind of fit in with the song, how this archetypal woman is being ravished, and her 'long brown hair' objectified, it makes me think of how they cut off the prisoners' hair... Anyway... not to dampen the mood or anything, just a thought from my brain.

I thought of a bunch more:

First off, "I Want to Sing" can be added to cats ("Must have been kind to little kittens and birds")

Removal of Clothing: "I Want to Sing," "Genius Next Door," "Daniel Cowman"

Light: too many to name right now

Royalty: "Oedipus," "The Virgin Queen," and probably a lot more

Moon: "Man of a Thousand Faces," "Small Town Moon," and probably some more

Snow: "Ne Me Quitte Pas," "8th Floor," to name just a couple

Religion/Clergy: "Blue Lips," "Man of a Thousand Faces," "Human of the Year," "Laughing With," "Prisoners"

Literature: too many to name

I like this thread, its fun to look through. Along with falling down the stairs there's some songs about stairs in general, like The Bronx and Woolen Gloves, "come downstairs," and Rockland County, "condescending down the stairs."

I'm kind of wondering why Eet is in the love/relationship section though. The ended relationship is an interpretation of that song, but I wouldn't consider it an explicitly stated thing.

Okay I'll take "Eet" out of the Love category pending further discussion, and expand 'falling down stairs' to just stairs in order to include the songs you mentioned.

Thanks for all the great contributions, everyone!
