"Human of the Year" is a lighthearted, amusing song? If you say so...

lol i know right? I was surprised when I read that.

Lol yeah it's like saying: "Fidelity is a dark ode to the macabre."

Well, ya know, it is...

with all of its dark pizzicato strings and depressing lyrics about dismemberment and despair.

Lmao 'dismemberment...' I literally laughed out loud.

Another annoying review:

http://www.comfortcomes.com/20.../regina-spektor-far/

"I’ve never spent much time listening to Regina Spektor, so this won’t be much of a retrospective piece. Nor have I had the worst of luck lately, so this can’t be a very bitter piece. It’s for those reasons that this review is so glowing, or is it that Regina Spektor’s new album Far on Sire is really just that good, heeding no reason for “looking backs” or “fuck you’s.”"

Huh?

Does anyone else feel like these reviewers are completely missing the point when it comes to Regina?

No shit. I think most of them were looking for Fidelity, didn't find it and went onto the next CD.

I like this quote: "Her piano and her nostalgic vocals could describe the color for a blind man, and he would finally understand what color was."

"Quirky crap she used to do on 11:11 and Songs"? Say whaaaaat?!

Yeah that quirky crap, whatever!!!!

"Spektor doesn’t seem intent on breaking barriers or amassing an army of fans, and this is what makes her delightfully middle-of-the-road songs just above OK."

I typed out a long response to this but figured, what's the point, you guys already know everything I would say. So I'll just say this: whadda douche.

Another douche reviewer:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/musi...9/regina-spektor-far

"The follow-up to 2006's Begin to Hope is shinier, thanks to co-producer Jeff Lynne, but just as whimsical. Sometimes too whimsical. It's a toss-up whether she's more irritating pretending to be a robot amid the electro-clatter of Machine or twittering "My eyelashes catch my sweat/ Yes, they do/ They do-oo-oo" on the classically twee Folding Chair. That said, she's always interesting; for all the nonsense, Spektor is a writer with something to say."

3/5 stars

Well Mr. British Doucebag reviewer - I suggest you steer clear of all experimental songwriters as they do tend to be a tad irritating! Roll Eyes
