I don't think what I have to say will be very helpful but I always thought the same thing about it being an allusion to "Ne me quitte pas" by Jacque Brel.

It is a very famous song that many many people have done covers on. I don't think it's just a coincidence, but I don't know, it could be.

I really like this cover by a singer Mireille Mathieu that a lot of people seem to mistake for Edith Piaf...Well, at first I thought it was Edith Piaf too but a lot of people leave comments on videos with this particular version of the song saying "It's Mireille Mathieu, not Edith Piaf!" and then the Uploader finally changed it to say Mireille Mathieu...heheh sorry long explanation about nothing helpful.

Thanks guys, those are great! My first thoughts were to use Mustard Musketeers or She's Leaving Home by the Beatles (I'm doing an analysis of a Robert Frost poem and presenting it to my English class, and I wanted to incorporate music with related themes).
