Somedays

Recommended Posts

I really like what good>perfect is saying about the line "I'm in love with your daughter" being a memory. I tried to convey a similar idea in my first post of the thread but I couldn't quite word it correctly.

But yeah, the emotion of the line is very fitting for the recalling of a memory that was joyous at the time, but has become painful.

Perhaps this song is from the perspective of the husband, Charles, from the classic Madame Bovary? Here's the wiki article:

Just a thought..

I'm not at all familiar with the work (so thanks for directing me to the Wiki!) but based on that synopsis it seems like a plausible theory. Sounds like a lot of days weren't his at all. Lol.

Lyrics:

quote:
Somedays aren't yours at all

They come and go

As if they're someone else's days

They come and leave you behind someone else's face

And it's harsher than yours

And colder than yours

They come in all quiet

Sweep up and then they leave

And you don't hear a single floor board creak

They're so much stronger

Than the friends you try to keep

By your side

Downtown, Downtown

I'm not here

Not anymore, I've gone away

Don't call me, don't write

I'm in love with your daughter

I wanna have her baby

I'm in love with your daughter

So can I please?

Downtown, Downtown

I'm not here

Not anymore, I've gone away

Don't call me, don't write

I've gone away

Don't call me, don't write

Don't call me, don't call me, don't call me

Don't write, don't write, don't write

Don't write, don't write

Somedays aren't yours at all

They come and go as if they're someone else's days

They come and leave you behind someone else's face

And it's harsher than yours

And it's colder than yours

"I'm not here

Not anymore, I've gone away

Don't call me, don't write

I've gone away"

The story of my life. =^( *sigh*

In some interview reg said that a lot of her songs are from the males prospective. I do think this one is from the males point of few though.

omg i cant believe this hasn't been mentioned but I was looking through the album flap and it says

" The line 'I'm in love with your daughter' lyric and melody used with permission from the song "Your Daughter" by Eric Biondo ©Eric Records

hmm I shall listen to this song! I never knew it was inspired from this. changes things slightly.
