Judging from the "Our Music" thread, a number of you (six to be exact) listed Florence + The Machine as one of your favorite musical groups, and she has been quite active and visible in America, so I thought an appreciation thread was in order. Feel free to discuss and share your favorite performances, interviews, news articles, photos, and just follow Florence's career in general, and I will add them to the original post accordingly.

As said in the original post, in case you missed it:

Judging from the "Our Music" thread, a number of you (six to be exact) listed Florence + The Machine as one of your favorite musical groups, and she has been quite active and visible in America recently, so I thought an appreciation thread was in order. Feel free to discuss and share your favorite performances, interviews, news articles, photos, and just follow Florence's career in general, and I will add them to the original post accordingly. =)

I'm not sure how to organize the list of her live performances above, chronologically or by personal ranking. The second post is a comprehensive (mostly chronological) list of all the official videos so far from her official channel on Youtube and mostly from the VEVO account and I shall be adding live performances soon and also by suggestions (edit: nvm that, I just made a separate post for the live performances). I didn't mean to make a list of all of them, it just happened. Sorry for the information overload in the original post.

My helter-skelter commentary:

She's got a powerful voice. She has great stage presence. I love her wizardy dresses and robes. I love her image. She's got style. Style. Stoyle. That orange-ish bronze-hair really works for her, which instantly projects her eccentricity. She's got lovely British teeth - kinda resembling Kirsten Dunst (sorry). I see a bit of Goldfrapp (music video for "Dog Days Are Over") in her, and also some Bat for Lashes (unconventional instruments) and the White Stripes ("Kiss With a Fist"). I love harps and wind chimes, so props to Flo for utilizing them. Great songwriting, as evidenced by "Girl With One Eye" and "My Boy Builds Coffins". She is a phenomenal live performance, really runs on high energy during concerts. She can dance and flow naturally and freely. She's very charming during interviews. She's British, so that has it's benefits and cons - like the intrusive press hassling you but also good publicity. I've read she's overexposed and overplayed on UK radio, and she's gaining traction and visibility in the US.

As a Doctor Who addict, I love ginger-heads. As the Doctor says, sometimes I wish I were. All this time, I never knew that a remix of 'Cosmic Love' was used in a Doctor Who advert (thanks Wikipedia) - how cool is that?! The remix is called "Down the Rabbit Hole" composed by Delicious Digital for the BBC.

I love the whole Oxegen concert. It has some of my favorite performance by her, mainly because of the rainy weather and she's not wearing any footwear, and how she glides and spins around the stage in her blue floral dress. (it reminds me of the ending of The Catcher in the Rye, when Phoebe is wearing her blue coat and all and riding the carousel and kept going around and around - I wanna frame that scene with my niece someday, lol. I just love gentle rains or rainstorms - I like to pretend that stormy and windy weather is the embodiment of my inner chaos.)

My favorite performances:

F+tM: "Cosmic Love"

(Official music video)

(Live At Oxegen Festival, 2010)

F+tM: "Dog Days Are Over"

(Official music video, 2010 remake)

(Live At Oxegen Festival, 2010)

edit2: ha, this made me laugh, from the comments of "Strangeness and Charm" - (

):

FamiliarTweet: "DAMN IT, I'M IN LOVE WITH HER. And I'm a straight girl so god help her male fans."

SapphireJesse08: "@FamiliarTweet I'm in love with her and I'm a gay man. No one is safe."
